This is a compilation of two prince albums and one album by protégé Bria Valente. The first album Lotusflow3r is a little bit more conceptual but overall a very solid well rounded masterpiece by someone who really can only compete against himself. His talent is far greater than anything out today and you can go back to his earlier albums and release them today, and others will still pale by the light of his brilliance. MPLSound is basically a back to old school album, very funky and with the lynn drum machine it reminds us of some of the best of his back catalogue. As for Bria Valente's album it's solid, a diamond in the rough. Unsure why it was included with his two cds, but perhaps he wanted to share her with a wider audience. She's a very capable singer, though to me she reminds me of other singers out today. But, when she finally finds her own voice she may be worth checking out again. Overall there are PLENTY of great songs on this album set. Old School Company, Valentina, $, Dreamer, Colonized Mind, Chocolate Box and of course Dance 4 Me. Anyone who likes prince and especially anyone who loves what he's already done will find plenty to like with this set.

The main reason I purchased this CD set was that I heard Prince do Crimson and Clover on TV and thought it was brilliant, and I still think that. The rest of the CD set is fun as well, and there's no way anyone could listen to it and not find themselves moving in rhythm with the music.

The only problem was when I was ripping the CSs to my computer...the second and third CDs came up labelled as two older Prince CDs. No biggie. Just rename them appropriately.

This is a huge gamble by Prince to promote his prote'ge' Bria Valente & to launch her career. The 3-CDs have 31 songs, but notable solid tracks are only, "Crimson And Clover" (a great cover version of the combination of classic "Crimson & Clover" & The Strawbs' classic, "Wild Thing"), "77 Beverly Park" (a great instrumental track) and the re-issued, "U'Re Gonna C Me" from the better 2001 release through prince website NPGMusiclub, "One Nite Alone". There are other 10 or so ok songs, but this is Prince (one would expect more from this talented prolific singer/song-writer!). The project may not fly off the shelf due to a poor product, Prince is one of the best musicians around & can certainly have released a better product. Remember Ta'mar? She is Prince's prote'ge' in the even better 2006 CD release, "3121". Despite being bruised in this release, one must give Prince credit for being innovative to try something new & Prince can always salvage a failed project with his almost perfect live performances!

I gave it one star because I couldn't give it anything less. Frankly, if you are a diehard Prince fan, you MIGHT be happy to have something new by Prince. However, if you're a Prince fan but not so desperate that you will accept crap just because it is PRINCE, then you are going to get really pissed off for buying this crap. Pretty much everything on this album is uninspiring. The best way I can put it is that if Prince were relying on this P.O.S to try to make his name in the music business, he would be living out of his car. NO music label would sign him (if he were unknown) if he handed them this crap as his demo tape. There is absolutely NOTHING about this album that is inspiring. I truly believe the high rankings this album has gotten are from : A) People hired by him to promote it B) Desperate fans that just want another album from Prince C) People on some sort of a drug induced frenzy.

The first album "Elixir".... some chick Prince is promoting sings all this junk. I'll give it to the Gal tho, she is a good vocalist; just a shame she couldn't come up with one single good song to put on the CD to go with her vocals! Whatever the case is, this will probably be her one and only album because no one will look at her seriously after listening to this crap.(It's been 4 years now, and nope, no more albums from her.... HINT HINT HINT). The second album is just BORING, other than Crimson and Clover: and it's really not all that inspiring of a remake. The third album seriously sounds like some 13 year old kid sat in his room with his computer and some cheap music-making software and made up some songs, wrote some crummy lyrics to go with it, and then somehow blackmailed Prince into singing it. It's awful.
