With the fit and design inspired by our most popular life jacket, the Chinook OS Fishing PFD has added features for open-water safety and convenience. The Chinook OS is a Type III, medium profile life jacket delivering 16.5 pounds of flotation. PlushFit foam and a high-back design combine to create an extremely comfortable vest for any type of raft or kayak seat. A mesh lower-back offers added ventilation on warm days. One large, zippered tackle pocket, with internal organization, plus one smaller tackle pocket. One zippered pocket-sized for a VHF radio and three accessory pockets with hook-and-loop closure. This Coast Guard-approved life jacket also features a rod holder, two strobe attachment points, two knife lash tabs and extra reflective accents for low-light visibility. The zippered front entry and six adjustment points offer a customized fit.

the quality of this PFD is excellent and definately worth the premium. It's fit and finish are great and it is very comfortable so there is no excuse for not wearing one. As an offshore kayak fisherman I appreciate the high viz orange color and VHF radio pocket. I wish there was a convenient spot within the radio pocket to attach the lanyard. I also wish the utility pockets were slightly larger, but it isn't a deal breaker. I also use this PFD for inshore kayak fishing as well. I am 5'9" 180 lbs and the Adult Large-Extra large fits me just right with the shoulder straps cinched all the way down. If you are shorter, you might want to go the next size down. There is plenty of adjustment both directions for the chest size. This is a great PFD; I highly recommend it.

This PFD is very well made, with plenty of utility features built in. I use it when fishing (usually for bass) in a boat on the lake. I'm an older gent and not a good swimmer, so I wear my PFD at all times in the boat on the lake. Good flotation, snug but comfortable fit, something not too hot, and convenient utility pockets for gear are all important to me. This one checks all my boxes. It is made of high quality durable materials and plenty of flotation for my 165 lbs. It has plenty of adjustments in the two sets of side straps and in the shoulder straps to provide a perfect custom fit for any body build.

My middle abdominal area is a bit bigger than my chest. Size chart for my chest measurement said I should choose Large; however, to fit around my mid-section, I chose an Extra Large. Both flotation pad sizes are virtually the same except the Extra Large provides longer adjusting straps for more length to get around my slightly bigger middle and more length over the shoulders to adjust the height of the flotation pads & bottom harness snap-clip down a little farther. This extra length assured me sufficient shoulder strap length to comfortably lower the flotation pads down enough to get the lower wraparound strap & snap-clip to get placed just below my belly button; and then the two side straps had plenty of length to adjust for fit around my middle and cinch up snuggly. This is important so that in the water, the PFD will not easily slide up and allow you to slip out of it. For initial fit test, you want to be able to pull up on the shoulder straps and the vest not slide upwards. The vest provides convenient slots to slide the excess strap lengths inside the vest out of sight, which is also very nice.

Once you get the vest adjusted to your size, it is very easy to put on & take off. Just slip it on, snap the front bottom clip around you, and zip up the front. Quick & easy.

The high flotation pad on the back allows for comfortable sitting in the boat seat when traveling, and the mesh in the lower back area along with the open sides allows air flow which makes it much cooler to wear.

And I love the zippered and Velcro pockets on the front. These provide convenient pockets for tackle, eyeglasses, cellphone or 2-way radio, needle nose pliers, pack of travel Kleenex and any other small items you may desire to access quickly & easily. For fishing, I was also able to attach a convenient Boomerang Snip Fishing Line Cutter w Retractable Tether on one of the two provided tabs which is very handy. In addition, if you want to carry a knife, there are also special attachment areas to accommodate a separate knife lash if desired.

The vest also provides a convenient Velcro rod holder strap, two strobe light attachment points if desired, and built-in reflectorized material strips in the shoulder strap areas for high visibility at night if needed.

All in all, I am very happy with this PFD vest.

Awesome life jacket very comfortable, radio pocket fits my radio perfectly, and the pocket next to it fits my personal locator beacon perfectly. I just wish they kept the small upper pocket that they had on the regular chinook, it was the perfect pocket to keep my whistle.

I have only used this once so far, on my maiden kayak cruise. It was very comfortable, and it didn't bother me in the list. I had it strapped tight enough so it wouldn't move around, so no irritation resulted.
Actually I will never know how good it is unless I actually fall in. I think I will try it when the weather is warmer, but for now it's a great purchase.

Just got into kayak fishing a couple months ago. I have a pedal kayak and wear this all day while I am out there. Also bought the NRS knife to look tough around the other fisherman. Product fits great, comfortable, feels really quality. Only complaint is I wish it had a specific pocket that fit my iPhone to make it easy to do my monster catch selfies. It fits in a pocket that is designed for something else so not perfect…but I would probably buy this one again if I had a choice.
