This tablet isn't for everyone. This tablet taps the RAW POWAH of your home gaming rig through the network, giving it an 8-inch window that you can take anywhere (well, anywhere with a good connection.) This tablet will allow your current PC Gaming obsession to become a constant companion. Everywhere you go, it will be whispering "play me" from inside your bag, enticing you to game during lunch breaks, in church, and even during Holidays when you're miles from your beloved battle station. Can you handle that? Do you have the sheer strength of WILL to maintain a social life when your games are always at your side? DO YOU?!
Sound, screen, and performance are all amazing. This is hands-down the most powerful 8" tablet on the market today. (It even competes with the upcoming Nexus 9 in many regards.)
NVIDIA GRID(tm) Cloud Gaming (currently in beta) may one day replace the home gaming rig. (Think Netflix streaming for PC Games)
This tablet is LOLLYPOP READY, meaning there's an update incoming soon. (Oh, NVIDIA, your updates prove your unending love.)
Supports 128GB MicroSD for holding selections from your library of perfectly legal TV shows, movies, music, games, and more apps.
Battery leaves much to be desired, but that's what power packs are for.
SHIELD stream isn't great, yet. Some games will move to a lower resolution and remain jagged or blurry, despite your settings. (Nvidia products age like fine wine. As always, NVIDIA is being fairly consistent with updates.)
The SHIELD Controller is mandatory for nearly all PC games AND Tegra-optimized Android games, but not included. A coupon would be nice, an included controller would be great. Alas, the world isn't fair.
1) Update your NVIDIA GPU drivers for best Game Stream results. If you don't have an NVIDIA GPU that supports GameStream, get one or return this tablet.
2) If a certain PC game doesn't work via GameStream, then Splashtop Remote is your friend. (Splashtop even has official NVIDIA endorsements, and works for touch-friendly PC games like Hearthstone.)
3) If you experience a lot of stutter, ensure your Wireless N router supports 5ghz, is running at 5ghz, and you have a good signal.
4) Install VLC for Android, use for all media, profit.
A few stats for my fellow Hardware buffs:

I got this thinking it would be a good tablet to play some games on and read but that didn't last long.
The first issue was the recall. That went fairly smoothly and I thought well that wasn't bad. Then NVIDIA updated the software on the tablet and it starting to fall apart from there. Now Launcher 3 or System UI crash on a daily bases, sometimes when it wakes up it will take a minute or two just to figure out it is a tablet, and during us sometime it will just pause for 10 to 20 seconds to catch it breath. I pretty much have to shut the tablet down at night and boot it up in the morning because letting it sleep while charging over night will result in a crash of some kind.
Tablet on paper sounds great but NVIDIA hasn't maintained the software and it has turned into a pile of junk.
In addition to the gaming features, I'd say this is probably the best android tablet out there. I personally prefer it over my wife's ipad. Its fast and I have access to everything I need. If you have got the gaming rig and you are looking for some portable option for streaming your games then this is definitely the way to go!

The hardware inside makes for a very snappy and fast experience, wether you're playing a game or just navigating the OS. The default android launcher is very close to stock, with only a few Nivida apps preloaded, most of which are actually useful. It has very solid construction and the rubberized back feels very premium. It has one of the best screens I've seen on any android tablet, hitting the sweet-spot at 1080p. No unnecessarily high, battery draining, resolutions that plague most android tablets. The speakers are fantastic for a tablet, thanks to their front facing orientation, though don't expect them to be on par with a dedicated speaker.
The included stylus is alright, but if you've used any of the styluses developed by Wacom, this one feels like just a gimmicky feature. I personally hate using on screen buttons, and would rather have dedicated capacitive touch menu and back buttons, as well as a physical home button; but i know others who prefer onscreen buttons, so thats really just a personal gripe.
Doesn't come with a file browser app preloaded, which makes it annoying to get to downloaded files, and to manage your storage; however this is easily remedied by a generic file browser app from the app store. The microSD card slot is rather annoying to swap out cards, but you only have to do it once or twice so its not a big deal. The most annoying thing about this tablet is without a doubt the mushiest power and volume buttons I have ever experienced. I cannot stress how bad they are. It is extremely difficult to tell if you are pressing them, and due to this you end up pressing them way harder than necessary (though mine still work after 2 years, so perhaps thats not the end of the world). I ended up using a magnetic lock case to solve my power button problem, and I generally control the volume by going into the settings on the tablet.
If you can deal with the downright terrible volume and power buttons, it is probably the best android tablet on the market.
10/10 would buy it again.
