Well below average. It's slow and clunky, does not show the articles that one saved for later reading (saved on another device), and prone to freezing. This app would never have passed UAT at Apple or Google.

I am reading the kindle edition on a kindle fire. Its great! Except for all the repeating paragraphs! For some reason paragraphs will repeat in the kindle edition though this is not the case on the website or hard copy. At first, I thought it was my font size, but fiddling bigger and smaller has no effect. As far as I can tell, it has something to do with the way images are implemented into the stories. It appears to me that the same paragraph from the article is repeated next the image despite it not being the caption of the image. I hope this can be remedied because it has had a surprising negative effect on my enjoyment of the times.

I was given a free month trial, but it turned out to be just a few articles. App is not so easy either. Will probably just keep the Washington Post subscription, which is less expensive anyway.

Best paper, now there's no mucking about anymore. I love this paper and I didn't want to waste paper and have it delivered. I live high on a hill and that seemed insane. I bought a very well priced kindle so now I can read books online and go on the internet and so much more and can read the Times such an amazing award winning paper online. Thanks.

Each morning I wake up, pour a cup of coffee, and crawl back in bed with my Kindle and the New York Times Ap. The journalism is so good I actually feel guilty getting if for free. Of course I could buy a subscription, but who wants to buy a cow when there's no charge for milk.

I do hope that the remaining struggling great newspapers in this world come up with a way to make a profit on their daily contribution to making this world a better, safer and more honest place in which to live.

When they're gone we will all be a little less informed and a lot more vulnerable.

I love the NYTimes. It took my breath away to have to choose ten articles out of a month of editions. Frustrated I went back to reading USA Today - free on my Kindle. I'll pay for the subscription, it's worth it. The free month promo for someone already with a NYTimes addiction however is fool hardy.

I dare say others will take the offer and forget a month is up and they have either exhausted their ten articles in one day or decided to jump right to the paid subscription.

Provide a full week free and reap the rewards of the person transitioning from paper to Kindle.

I pay $15 per month for unlimited NYT access on my laptop and Android phone. Apparently, this Kindle app is NOT included in the subscription, because it won't let me log in and use it the same way I do on the other devices. I'm assuming you need a separate subscription, although I have not contacted support to verify this because it's just not that important. However, the app itself works the way it's supposed to. For those of you complaining about advertising, don't be silly. If you buy the newspaper at a newstand, it will contain ads. There's no reason to expect an app to contain no ads. That's one of the most important ways in which newspapers support themselves. To summarize: Before you complain about "exorbitant prices" (to quote one reviewer), think about what you're getting, compared to the actual paper version.

Pretty great App... I don't anticipate continuing to spend $10 monthly on the subscription.. there's too many free news sources out there. Despite that.. the App does display beautifully and makes for a really wonderful reading experience. I wish most of the magazines I subscribe to on my Kindle would take a note from these developers.. this Kindle App is really great!

The app used to download automatically to my Fire so when I clicked on it, I didn't have to click again for a download.

Now I have to click, which is no fun if I forget to download at home and then am somewhere I don't have an internet connection.

Am I doing something wrong?

I'm only giving this 3 stars because even though I love the NYtimes and have a subscription to it.. I cant use my unlimited subscription on my kindle. I know this is an ongoing issue and as a regular subscriber my advice to both companies is to ....FIX IT !!!!.. honestly both companies win if this happens. You know how many kindles would be sold if I you could keep your newspaper on it?..not to mention the subscription loyalty increases. What is the problem here ??!!!
