The NZXT IU01 is the perfect solution for the longstanding problem of not having enough USB HEADERS on your motherboard.

There seems to be some confusion so I will explain. This device adds three USB headers to your motherboard. A USB header is normally located on your motherboard and serves to connect two USB PORTS. What ends up happening many times is that a computer will have four external USB ports on the front of their case and only two USB motherboard headers. Both headers will be taken up on the motherboard (2 USB ports per header), thus preventing anything else from being connected such as a fan controller or an internal media card reader. This bad boy, the NZXT IUO1, comes to the rescue and pops out three more headers inside of your computer case. Note that this card also comes with two USB ports on it to connect a standard USB device such as a flash dongle, wireless dongle, bluetooth dongle, or a myriad of other dongles. These extra two ports on the NZXT IU01 are presumably to be used for something that you want to leave permanently inside of your case, or at least for an extended period of time. Once you close the case up you will not have easy access to any of these ports until you reopen the case.

Note that you will have to open your case to install this sucker. As always follow the usual safety protocol when doing so. Disconnect the power!!! Discharge any static electricity! Wear a static bracelet if you are not too seasoned at keeping static away from delicate electronic parts. Consult your manual beforehand!

Also note, that while it says that it adds three USB headers to your motherboard, one will have to be utilized in connecting the NZXT IU01 to your motherboard so in total you will add a net of 2 USB headers and two internal ports.

I recently build a new gaming computer for my son. Now of days, there are a lot of new monitoring accessories that are requiring more and more 9 pin USB2.0 slots, which competes with other existing 9pin items. The motherboards (and newer ones) only have one or at best two slots. Yes, there are tons of external USB2.0 slots, but no addition 9 pin ones. So, which items do you connect? After searching for PCI cards and/or split cables to connect to external ports, I found the perfect solution. It was just what the doctor order: simple and straight forward. Just, connected this to your motherboard's USB2.0 9 pin (with 9pin cable provided), plugged in the power cord (provided), and plug in all of your monitoring cables into one of the three USB2.0 9 pin adapters. This even has two regular USB2.0 ports as well. Also comes with Velcro so that you can secure it to your case. No software needed. I have attached a photo for everyone to see: Still have one 9pin and 2 usb2.0 connections available, if needed.

I've never understood why so many devices come with 9-pin USB connectors instead of a plain old USB plug, and why there are so few USB headers on a motherboard. This add-on board solves the problem. It comes with a 9-pin USB cable which connects to the board and a 9-pin header on the motherboard. The cable is long enough to install this just about anywhere in your case. The attached velcro makes it easy to mount this to the case or you can tie it to a cable if you want. The short power cord is not a problem since there are usually several power sockets hanging around anyway.
The board has three useable 9-pin headers plus two female USB sockets. Should be enough to keep me happy for awhile.

Just got this today. Had it installed within a few minutes. I have used NZXT product for some time now without any issues. Have a case made by them as well for a custom built PC. This is a great addition for more internal usb devices. Completely plug and play. I have been searching for a couple months now a internal usb hub and found this one and very pleased with it. Gonna be ordering several more of these for use later one when i need them. Thanks

Bought this to go with my new computer build. Was a little worried reading the bad reviews in regards to Rev 1.1 and it destroying motherboards. But then I thought, hey this is what I need and there are tons of good reviews so I'll be fine. Well I should've listened!

I have an Asus x99-Deluxe II board that only has one USB 2.0 header but needed to plug in the following:
- Front Case Ports
- Corsair 650i Power Supply Link
- Corsair H110i Water Cooling Link

I plugged those 3 things into this board, plugged the board into the USB 2.0 header on my board and connected the molex power cable into this. Turned on my computer and instantly heard a hiss and saw smoke. Unplugged my computer, unhooked this P.O.S. from my computer, re-hooked up my front port cable to the USB 2.0 header on my MB. Turned on my computer and it wouldn't post. The Q code on my board was saying invalid memory configuration (which was fine before all this). I tried different memory and different configurations and still nothing. I then spent the next 10 minutes pacing around my house muttering about how pissed off I was and I should've listened to the negative reviews.

Luckly I had just built my computer a couple days before so I was able to exchange the MB for a new one at my local retailer. I re-connected everything (minus this P.O.S) and everything was fine again.

If you decide to tempt your fate on this board Rev 1.1, which I wouldn't, then I would first hook it all up except the part going to the header on your MB, then turn it on and see if it blows. That way it doesn't send current to your MB destroying it.

The pic I am posting shows the red circle around where the IC blew.

TLDR This will destroy your motherboard (Rev 1.1)
