Update [8/29/2013]:
Approaching 2 full years of use is something I've never done for a mouse. Two things about the mouse have run their course which I was expecting to happen eventually. The blue LED indicator when switching DPI on the fly has died, so I can only see the red color when at lower settings. This is not an essential feature. Second, the coating I was such a fan of is beginning to peel slightly. This usually happens to my mice after 6 months, and the fact that this has gone for 20 months before loss of texture is quite amazing. Core features of the mouse are still perfect.

Several people have told me I should upgrade to a "gaming mouse" with weight compartments. I didn't talk about weight in my original review, but compared to other gaming mice this is a light mouse. Personally I like light mice, so weight compartments are not really necessary.

I have also taken this mouse on several trips, so it has gotten beaten up a bit in a carry-on bag. For a plastic mouse this is quite durable.

Update [1/16/2013]:
The mouse has survived up to 14 months now with no major issues. A minor issue is that the scroll wheel is hard to clean. The wheel is built into the body of the mouse, with an opening just large enough for the wheel. Since it is quite small, foreign objects can add to the wheel resistance. Very minor issue and the 5 star rating still holds. I feel like this mouse will easily last past the two year mark.

Original Review [6/28/2012]:
I've had this mouse for 7 months, and have used it heavily for 6 months. It still works great like it did 7 months ago. I'd recommend it for anyone looking for an affordable mouse for gaming to a nice mouse for general computer usage.

This mouse has worked great, and the ability to change sensitivity on the fly is pretty useful. It recently lost that ability. I'm not sure how long I've had it now, but it seems a little early. It still works well as a mouse, and I didn't change sensitivity that much, so it's not a great loss. The mouse also is comfortable. The main buttons feel nice and the roller wheel is good. The thumb button is well positioned, but I never used the pinky button.

There is another issue that I'm not sure if it's my motherboard or the mouse, but every now and then when I start the computer it doesn't see the mouse. I can either restart or unplug the mouse and plug it back in. I have an ASROCK Extreme 4 mobo, don't know if this is a known issue, but it's kind of annoying to have to dig around behind the tower. I'd estimate it happens every 25th startup or so, maybe less frequently.

Granted, I've never had a laser mouse before, but after just moments I knew I was in love with this one. I got it because it matched my case and that was important for some reason. I used it while sitting on my bed, and even there it glides with ease and is so incredibly precise!

We bought the origin Avatar mouse for my nephew which was good for using both hands. It died after a year or so, so we ordered a BLACK one from Amazon and ended up with a WHITE one. Obviously sent it back.

Anyways, he really wanted a black one so we decided to contact NZXT directly for a possible replacement of the older one that had died. They promised to replace it with an Avatar S (a downgrade) if we sent the dead one back to them. So we paid UPS $9.87 to have the item shipped back to them. UPS verified it was delivered. Over a dozen emails to the company and we get the run around and finally blown off. This is now 15 months later. So we are out the $76 paid for the original Avatar PLUS the return shipping on the RMA.

Hands down, the worst customer service from any company I have ever dealt with.

Reading that other people ended up with the White mouse, and being a bit familiar with this company I'd wager to say this was not a error. They probably made too many of the white ones and decided to ship them out on orders intentionally in place of the black ones, hoping we like their overstocking remedy.
