This is a wonderful little tool. The nail hunter is solidly fabricated, and, indeed, hunts nails flawlessly and with remarkable ease. While its main objective is unquestionably to extract nails in a wide variety of situations, we’ve by now used it in very handy situations for which it certainly wasn’t intended. A must in the tool bag, with an undoubtedly long life! Delighted.

Our basement stairs were carpeted, until the basement flooded and EVERYTHING needed to be stripped. The carpet was torn out, but the staples and carpet tacks stayed behind. For years. Because pulling them with a hammer proved to be both time-consuming and ineffective: many broke; many were in positions where a hammer could not fit. After years of cleaning pet hair and dust/dirt from these annoying tacks and staples, I went looking for "the right tool." (My dad always said any job is easier with the right tool.)

This nail jack is just the right tool! Fast, easy, and after all those years, even FUN to see the staples and carpet tacks yield, one by one, to the gentle, strong, and effective pressure to let go of my stairs!

Delivered on time. Exceeded expectations and works on a variety of nails. With this tool I have pulled nails as diverse as finishing nails to early 1900s hand made nails out same period heart wood pine that is nearly petrified.

Everyone makes mistakes, and it sure is great to have just the right tool to fix them! I managed to put an Ikea bookshelf together upside down (grrrrrrrrr), and only discovered this AFTER attaching the backing with 49 small nails. I struggled with my hammer's claw for half an hour and managed to extract 2 nails, and was ready to throw the whole thing into the alley. I did a little searching on the Internet and found the Nail Hunter, which I had overnighted with my Amazon Prime membership. Voila! I had all of the nails pulled out and the shelf put to rights in very short order. I was able to do this without damaging the shelf or the nails. Everyone should have one of these things in their toolbox!

There's a TV Ad in the UK for a well known paint manufacturer. "It does exactly what it says on the tin (can)" Well this tool does that and more. Can't fault it for quality or performance....and the delivery estimate of 15- 20 days from backwoods USA to very rural France was in fact brilliant. Ordered Thursday....delivered noon Monday. 5+ stars

I bought this tool to remove some nails embedded in a hardwood floor. I had tried every tool I had in the house, then I went on YouTube and watched a video of this tool in action. I ordered, used it and it is amazing. For some of the nails it took a little extra effort, but it will get the embedded nails out. It left the hardwood floor with no, I mean NO damage. Well worth the money!

I took down wallboard from a large ceiling and found the Nail Jack 8 1/2 Inch Nail Hunter useful. One of its greatest advantages is its short fulcrum for pulling the nails. Hammers have that flat spot when the handle is perpendicular to the work piece and then the fulcrum becomes the nose of the hammer. With the Nail Jack as you pull a nail you can also keep re-gripping the nail along its shaft for leverage or just convenience of access/geometry.

It can grasp nail heads easier than a hammer claw. For example when the wall board broke at a nail and the nail was half-exposed the Nail Jack could grip the partially exposed nail. A hammer claw would need a trench on each side of the nail for access. For nails that are flush, the Nail Jack doesn't work very well. You can hammer on the back of the tongs to drive in the points but the geometry is cumbersome for holding and hammering at the same time and the results are not that great. That would be a job for a slide-hammer type nail puller I suppose although slide hammer type pullers would usually be used on larger nails that wallboard nails.

Now that the job is over, I am happy to have the Nail Jack in my tool box for potential future uses.

So far this tool has worked great on staples, gutter spikes, nails. Purchased this in anticipation of a large demo project coming up and am pleased with it so far. In fact I may purchase the larger size also.
