Julienne again shows she's smart and resourceful. She puts her ability to get people talking to good use both in her conference classes and with other guests. Porsche participates in the activities meant to curb cabin fever while listening to what folks are talking about, prompting when she needs to.
My only disappointment is that the Conference organizers didn't engage the attendees more with the resort management. Instead of merely suggesting activities it seems this was a prime opportunity for hands on real-life training and a way for Julienne to find more inside information.
I really like Julienne. She's relatable and easy to root for. The relationship between Julie and her BFF Porsche is well-written, and wonderful to read about. The supporting characters (especially Julie's "Baker Street Irregulars") are engaging and believable.
Julie's skill at getting people to talk and her natural curiosity (which she used in ICED) are put to good use in NAILED by the detective investigating the murder of Kara Caine. Det Larson asks Julie to assist the inquiries as an unofficial "quasi-confidential informant and a kinda-consultant." I enjoyed watching Julie sleuth and come up with several plausible suspects for Larson to investigate.
The fast-moving plot made sense, and drew me in from the start. The detailed descriptions of the blizzard made me feel like I was there in Vail with Julie and Porsche. Author Avery Daniels kept me guessing until the end. I am looking forward to the next Resort to Murder Mystery, SPIKED. I'm eager to learn what happens with Julie and a certain someone.
Note: I received a complimentary copy of NAILED and voluntarily reviewed it. All opinions shared are 100% my own.

I was very engaged by her description of the environment, the people, and the very inclement weather making me a bit claustrophobic with all the talk of the snow storm, roads closed, and everyone staying indoors. But she didn't rely on just the narrative including entertaining banter between Julienne and her BFF and the informal interrogations with other witnesses and suspects. The essence of a “page turner.” With a plethora of rich characters to support her amateur investigation, not-so-smooth romantic entanglements, and some perilous moments, Julienne is proving to be a favorite “cozy” character: vulnerable, but strong. Fans of Avery’s book one Iced will be thrilled, and newbies need not shy away since enough information is provided, no spoilers, on background and character connections to make it easy to join in. Although there are subtle nuisances and some personal events that you may want to experience by reading book one first. But however you join in, my recommendation is to “join in.”
