This book "The Naked Warriors" is a survey and history of the United States Navy Underwater Demolition Teams (UDT) formed in World War II, the forerunners to the modern Navy SEALs. The book details the tactics, operations, and training, at a time when the United States as in many other technical areas, was well behind the state of the art, playing catch up to Italian and German naval Special Forces. This book is poorly referenced, but overall, I have found this book to be highly readable and although the material is dated it is still historically significant in the study of modern special warfare. I believe that this title will appeal to the professional and armchair military historian and serving military personnel.
