This is by far the best sippy cup I have found. We have been through tons of brands/types: sraws, soft nipple, hard nipple, cheap, expensive, etc. and this really has taken the prize. My extremely active kids ages 5, 4, and 2 have put these cups through the ringer and they have passed every time. It doesn't leak at all! They have tried turning it upside down and shaking it...nothing, literally throwing it across the yard (I am ashamed to say)...nothing, leaving it completely upside-down in their car seats...nothing. And because the nipple is hard, even when it is pushed up against something, it still doesn't leak like a soft nipple would. While we would prefer that there was some sort of cap to protect the nipple from getting dirty, it is very nice that the standard screw on cap that fits on the wide mouth nalgene bottles also fits this sippy cup so we can screw that on for my older son to use without having to go out and buy all new sippy cups/water bottles.

If you visit Nalgene's website, they sell blue, pink, green and purple there too for $7.25. Some other posts for this product talk about the valve falling out all the time, I find it hard to believe/understand how that could happen, but if it does, you can also buy replacement valves online at Nalgene...$3.25 for a 2pack. This is by far the best sippy cup...and the price is reasonable compared to what you would pay for all the other kid sippy cups anyway! We have 4 of them for EACH of our kids...so 12 total. We have had all 12 for at least 2 years and some of them longer since we purchased our first one when our eldest son was only 20 months old. Sooo at least 3 years of use for the same sippy cup is impressive. We have not had to purchase replacement valves as of yet.

1. this does NOT leak
2. this model stays new-looking for a long time!
3. a little hard to sip from, but for a 4 yr old in pre-school: no problem
4. flipside: my 2 yr old can NOT get a drop out! (so don't buy this model for a little one)

I now own 4 of these, and love the fact that they will NEVER leak all over lunch, bookbag, etc.

We just purchased this cup, so I can not know how it will hold up, but so far it has been good. The fact that it's Nalgene and made in the USA is a big plus. The only issue so far, as we have had with many other "no spill" sippy cups, (and apparently many other people have this issue too) is that it is difficult to suck water out of the mouth piece, resulting in less water consumed. I read that some people just left the inside valve off, which I have done with other cups. But I decided to modify the valve to see if that would still offer some spill prevention but enable easier drinking. The valve opening has four little tabs that look like the opening to a soda cup lid where the straw goes in. I took scissors and snipped off two of the little "tabs" and so far it has worked better. The water does still fall out of the spout when tipped, but not as much. I'd say if you're concerned about too much water coming out, cut off just one tab first to see how that works. It was really easy to modify and just took a few seconds. It might not be worth it fur some, but it's just an idea for those that like this cup but don't want to go entirely without the valve...

I've been through a lot of sippy cups/ water bottles for my one year old and three year old. Some seem great at first and then turn out to be not so great after you use them. Not these! They remain awesome:

PROS:
- easy for little hands to grip, without having handles
- fits in a standard cup holder, great for car rides or stroller rides (cups with handles or water bottles with wide bottoms don't fit in cup holders).
- spill proof. (I've not had any leaks or issues like I have with other "spill proof" cups that leak, or even explode out of the straw from the spill-proof valve suction).
- the kids can't chew through the spout (like they have done with the soft spouts and straws), but they are also not that really hard uncomfortable plastic either.
- no replaceable spouts or straws. (the spill proof valve is replaceable, but it is inside and will wear out much slower than a spout or straw they chew on)
- dishwasher safe, but also easy to clean by hand (no special tools, like straw cleaners, required)
- clear so you can see how much water is inside
CONS:
- Not enough color options. I couldn't get these for my kids in their favorite colors, which are orange and red.

Yeah, it doesn't leak, but it's also incredibly difficult to drink from with the valve inserted. What's the point of carrying around a water bottle if your kid isn't able to drink? It really takes a lot of suction to get any water through. You can remove the valve for easy drinking, but then it leaks. We also tried the Camelback, and it was by far the winner for our household.

My wife and I have many "no spill" bottles from several brands for our two year old son. They are not very durable. We bought two of these hoping that the durability would be better. The bottles are very well made; however, the valve is very strong. There is no vent hole in the cap, thus requiring pretty strong suction to get water out. Also, there is no straw inside requiring this to be tipped like a normal bottle. I feel this will be well suited for kids 3 years and older.
