The original. The trailblazer. The Sir Edmund of water bottles. If you’re looking for a water bottle that will keep you well hydrated, hold up against bangs, bumps, and drops, and not leak a single drop ever, then the iconic 32-ounce wide mouth is your water bottle. There’s a reason why we haven’t changed its design in decades—because it works (extremely well).

- Large mouth so that even if it freezes a little , it still allows you to drink from it. Also easier to clean.
- Use for keeping warm inside the sleeping bag after filling with hot water.
- BPA free for obvious.
- No leak since I need to put this inside my backpack.
Overall it met all the criteria's below. At summit, 50% of the water was frozen but I was still able to use it without any issues. These bottle are durable, I even kept these in my check in backpack while taking the flight. No issues what so ever. The marking can be useful if you want to break it down. We took 5 breaks from camp Muir to summit and I was able to manage the intake considering 64 oz and tried to drink the appropriate amount using the markings. Also I did not feel any difference in taste keeping the water for longer duration. I will report back if I observe any more features or faults with this.

So when the loop on that bottle broke in a freak accident involving a rogue suitcase, I bought about three different kinds of bottles from Amazon in the span of 2 months. The closest I found to my former love was the Contigo Tranquil bottle, but it was so puny by comparison and had this weird half-opening, silicon sleeve thing that just made me sad.
Then, out of nowhere, my dad asked to use my Prime to order a water bottle he could take to work. He's a doctor with long shifts and a lack of proper water fountains at his full-time job, so he needed something with a large capacity. We searched for a couple minutes and decided on a Nalgene. Well, I loved the bottle more than he did and I took it any chance I got, particularly on the weekends when he went to the part-time hospital with free water and had no need to bring water from home. After a week or two of my debauchery, I ordered my own, and I LOVE it.
Sure, it makes you pee 2-3 times more than you normally would in a day. Sure, drinking two of these a day is the equivalent of a half-gallon of fluid. Sure, it's easy to spill some water on yourself when you get a little too excited. But if you're like me and love to be hydrated throughout the day and usually spill water on yourself everyday anyway no matter what bottle you use, I HIGHLY recommend this brand.
I've dropped this bad boy on concrete a few times, so yeah he'll get some scratches easy-peasy. But no cracks thus far, nor have there been any leaks. Also, the wide mouth is nice for when I want to put ice in my water.
The major thing about this bottle is the cap attachement. I like how the plastic cap is attached to another piece of plastic which wraps around the "neck" of the bottle to keep the cap from rolling away, but that loop is definitely NOT a place to hold it from. I used to hang on to the loop while doing my daily activities, but I noticed it was becoming loose. Since then I've stopped, and everything has stayed in shape. I know other people got to the point of that breaking off.
Other than that, I really like this bottle for the price. It's big enough to where I don't need to be refilling it constantly, but also at the right size to fit in my bag when I'm on the go. Its mere presence works wonders of reminding me to drink water since the blue color I got somehow makes water look... appetizing?
ANYWAY... My suggestion to you, potential buyer of this particular Nalgene bottle, is to prepare yourself to transport this BPA free container by the body and handwash it as much as your annoyance of germs goes. But most importantly, stay hydrated.

Bottle just looked at me and said, "psh, I crap bigger than this."
Nuff said, bottle.

I bought the clear bottle so that it could be set in the sun for 2 hours, to sterilise water from a stream or other scource, if no other mode of sterilisation was present.
It's just a shame it doesn't fit well in a pocket, they do one which does but in reviews it seems thinner and more fragile and breakable. I like to avoid plastic, but it's lighter and more practical than glass, and if this one lives up to it's longevity reputation, it will be worth having; certainly better than lots of cheaper platic bottles making their way into landfil or a 'trash island' in the sea!
