This water bottle will never break, drop it on concrete or in rocks. I am an archaeologist, so it gets beat up in the field by shovels, rocks, being stuck in buckets with tools, etc. No cracks or damage ever.
I will say that I don't like the wide mouth ones because they are too hard to me to drink from, but I really love the narrow mouth version. If you buy a baby bottle scrubber, that's all you need to wipe it clean on the inside. If you're just putting water in it, you don't even need to do that much, just rinse. Like I said, I dig holes for a living, and I never have an issue getting dirt out of my Nalgene's. I've also never had an issue with getting dirt IN my Nalgene. It can be in a bucket of dirt, and as long as the top is on, nothing gets inside. It has also never, ever, leaked, which is really important as I can't risk getting artifacts or my field notes wet. The same cannot be said for my Camel Back or other types of bottles.
You can fit ice cubes in the hole, and it holds a ton of water without being heavy on its own. Nice for hiking as you can loop it onto anything. Also nice for making you drink a lot of water throughout the day using the measuring tools on it.
Stylistically, it clean and sleek. If you're like me, you like to put a lot of stickers on it for personalization. It's a silly thing to review, but this is the best bottle for putting stickers on. Usually they get a crease due to the round shape of the bottle, but this one is just perfectly wide enough that even round stickers go on absolutely perfectly. As you can see in the photo, I only have two on it right now, but I am putting more on later. It's a great conversation starter!
I see a lot of people complaining about how the strap broke on them, but upon receiving it, its clear that the strap is not meant to be held. It's a plastic material that seems like it would snap with too much force. It's really only there to keep you from losing the cap. It's not meant to function as a handle! If you do break it, Amazon sells replacement caps.
I've dropped it a couple times from a standing height and a few times on concrete and it hasn't broken yet, but it will scratch the plastic.
If you leave water sitting in it, it starts to smell and taste plasticy so wash it often and change out your water everyday.
I would not freeze this bottle! It's a rigid plastic and from my knowledge of how water works when frozen, it will expand and possibly explode your bottle! It was not advertised as freezer friendly so don't risk it! Basically, don't try to force the bottle into extremes and it will last you a long time.

I have bought many sport bottles in past ranging from the classic blue and yellow Lucozade bottle to metal bottles, to which all have leaked. The Mrs believes I have a bottle fetish considering how many I have previously bought.
Great slim neck design, so you don’t end up dribbling or wearing half of your drink.
I can honestly say this bottle has been thrown at the bottom of my North Face Duffel bag many of times with no consideration to the angel it lays and it has not leaked once. (Please don’t leak now)
No plastic taste what so ever, easy to clean (as already mentioned in another review just put fairy liquid in it with some warm water and give it a shake), durable beyond belief (I've read it can be dropped filled with water from multi storey car parks). Nalgene started off making lab grade bottles to store chemicals and have successfully transferred the robustness and functionality across to the out doors community.
The smaller neck suits my drinking style and the screw down cap means it will never leak. The hoop attached to the neck means it can be fed through a carabiner, great for climbers or hanging this off a daysack.
This will last a lifetime of abuse, it also means you've done away with single use plastic. A nice feature carried over from the lab environment are the measurements in millimetres and ounces printed on the side. Great if you want to use specific water for coffee or cooking in the wilderness.
The 1l bottle is under £7 at the time of writing, what a bargain. I've had mine for over 9 months and plan to get a second. Nalgene also make kids bottles, if you have sprogs running about getting thirsty.
These bottles are really well made and very durable. My other bottle is 7 years old and still looks like new. Very solidly made and my old bottle has never leaked so I presume the new one will be the same. Also the bottle doesn't taint the water with any 'plastic flavour' which is a bonus as other bottles can sometimes do this.
I love the narrow neck version as the wide neck often ends with me pooring water all over myself. In the use I give these generally after 6 months or so the lid attachment breaks and I replace it with 2mm dynema cord, the bottle then trudges with me on my daily adventures, I have peers that have owned nalgene bottles forever, sadly mine get abused, they deserve a better life than I give them. Once retired, I've no doubt they look back on their life of rugged servitude with fondness in their hearts. You should buy one and take it on adventures, please don't park it next to a computer in your office, it was built for a life less ordinary.
Also being BPA free (which was one of the main reasons for buying this), it has no effect on the taste of water when drinking from it. The only downside I can see is that although it is dishwashers safe, I cant make it fit in my due to the shape, but no big deal.
Smooth plastic material means you can put stickers on it, if that's your thing.
Cap feels very secure and I've never been worried about it leaking, loop feels relatively strong and makes it easy to carry around.
100% would recommend.
This version works perfectly, same quality as the other ones. Been using Nalgene for years, dropped them down stairs or even when doing some light climbing, they still work flawlessly. These are built for life, will probably last longer than me. Also, no BPA which is a big plus.
Parece consistente y robusta.
The bottle is made from a very thick, and smooth , hard BPA free plastic. The cap is a screw-on type and is attached to a thick plastic strap that also acts as a handle.
The bottle also doesn't give off a plastic-y taste even when the water has sat in it for a few hours,

I now have three Nalgene bottles, one of which I've had for several years and it's still in perfect condition despite being used almost every day and dropped many times.
The 1.5L wide mouthed bottles are good, but a bit too big and heavy and can be difficult to drink from. These 1L narrow mouth bottles are the perfect size to carry around and are much easier to drink from without spilling. The cap fits on tight and I've never had one leak.
Regardless of the sizes, Nalgene is probably the best brand for water bottles out there and definitely worth every penny.
I’ve used many water bottles in the past and the three main reasons I hated water bottles are: they leak, they’re too small, and they smell.
This one is perfect, it never leaks, has a perfect cap design, it holds enough water for half a day, and it’s really easy to clean because there aren’t any small nozzles or crevices. You just fill it will hot water and washing up liquid and give it a shake. Rinse it out, make sure all the bubbles are gone and it’s clean!
