Wonderfully created for 8-12 year olds (but I enjoyed it as well), My Name Was Bert tells the story of a loving, protective female Rottweiler named Bertha or Bert for short. Disastrously separated from her family, she discovers that surviving on her own in nature can be the last place a dog would want to be. Will she live? And if so, what will her new life be like?
Written in a simple, descriptive and lively "first-person" prose, I am somewhat embarrassed to admit that I felt a tear or two at the end of this heartfelt story. This is the kind of book you will want to read, perhaps shed a tear or two for yourself, and then share with the kids in your life.
And who knows, you may feel like going out and doing something noble....
In my view, your book tells a story about love, loyalty, commitment, courage, bravery, heartaches, insecurities, hope and the willingness to be grateful no matter what. It also is a story about survival, providing educational information on what you can do to protect yourself and how to survive a fire.
This story is fiction but the impact is real. During the fire I felt like I was living the story along with Bert.
"Can't wait for the next book to find out what happen to Jo and Hank."

I recommend it for people of all ages.
The book is written from the perspective of the dog, which makes it really interesting and heart wrenching. You'll want to snuggle with
your pet as you read this book, as if gives us a glimpse of what they may be thinking and feeling! I highly recommend this book for anyone who loves
a good heart felt story!
