I streamed this music for years via Amazon and ultimately decided to purchase this remixed disc. Lots of great songs, especially One Velvet Morning — a favorite of mine for decades. There’s not a single cut on this disc I consider filler. Great if you’re in the mood for a bit of nostalgia in a time before the world went mad.

This is a remastering of the original 1968 release. It does not have the extended version of Summer Wine that was on the Rhino label release. It also has two bonus tracks and a nice interview with Nancy Sinatra on the making of the album.

I remember hearing this on my AM radio back in the late sixties, (Some Velvet Morning). It was more like storytelling than just music, and I loved just listening to the lyrics. Some great music here, excellently produced and fine sound. A great add to my music collection.

With the exception of a major snafu, this would be 5 stars for listening pleasure.
The problem is the production on "Sand". Lee's vocal is at the same level as the rest of the LP. Nancy's is not. She is less than 1/2 of the volume that it should be. It reminds me of the days when records were coming out in rechanneled stereo but if you had a mono player, one of the channels was a much fainter sound.
Since "Sand" is probably my favorite of the songs included on this LP, I'm very disappointed.
Fortunately, I have the 45 for my jukebox and the sound level is fine.
I'm giving this 3 stars for I would probably still have bought this if I'd had known. But I'm not certain.
At least, it has 3 bonus cuts over the original release.

Ce disque, bien qu'apparu initialement en 1968, est une nouveauté dans l'escarcelle de la maison de disque "Light in the Attic Records". C'est un petit label de Seattle, spécialisé dans la réédition de vieilleries des années 60 (principalement) ayant quasiment disparu de la circulation. Ils font les choses bien avec une remastérisation idoine accompagnée d'une présentation seyante des produits. D'où les prix (un peu) plus élevés que la moyenne, mais pleinement justifiés.
Ca tombe bien, Nancy Sinatra est dans leur viseur et ce "Nancy & Lee" est leur troisième réalisation pour cette artiste. Je vais tenter de relater mon expérience pour la version CD, sachant que le format en vinyle est également proposé.
Si Lee Hazlewood avait déjà composé pour la belle Nancy, celui-ci fut leur tout premier album de duos. Disons-le tout de suite, il est magnifique. Le chant abrupt du monsieur se marrie parfaitement avec le filet délicat de la demoiselle. C'est du niveau de "Sonny and Cher" à leur meilleur et ce, sur des compositions excellentes. Au niveau du style, je situerais cela entre de la pop inspirée avec un zeste de country. Les titres ne versent jamais dans la caricature et j'ai particulièrement aimé "Elusive Dreams". Les hits les plus connus sont "Summer Wine", "Jackson" et "Some Velvet Morning".
Les 2 bonus sont plus anecdotiques.
Un achat à conseiller pour les amateurs du genre d'autant plus que le digipack de qualité contient un adorable livret...

I distinctly remember purchasing this album as it was the day I purchased my first real stereo set up.
As I had purchased the stereo, the deal was, I could choose two albums to go with it. Nancy and Lee was one of them back in 1968. Yes, a long time ago. I still have that original album and just had to purchase the reissue. I admit, back then I thought "wow what a way cool couple on the cover". I had never heard of them but my instinct proved correct. With songs including Sand, Jackson and the mighty Some Velvet Morning I was in heaven. Nancy and Lee more correctly Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazelwood were one almighty musical pairing. Her beautiful sweet vocal combined with his way cool deep, baritoned voice just made this most unlikely pairing sing the most unique duets of all time. One only has to absorb Some Velvet Morning and Hazelwood's lyrics transport you to another time and place. Many of the songs reveal a question/answer style of arrangement which suits the compositions to a T. No wonder he was nicknamed the Psychedelic Cowboy. Indeed. The album begins with a very slowed down version of The Righteous Brothers 1964 hit You've Lost That Loving Feeling. Just listen to Hazelwood's low low..."whoa, oooh, oooh" and you will see what I mean. Later the neat hook on Greenwich Village Folk Song Salesman entices you in with a smile. And has there ever been a more cool duet than on Sand. Once heard, you will flick the stylus back again. This album remains timeless. The new edition features two extra songs and a 10 Page colour booklet featuring an interview with Nancy and great reflection on Lee. Next up I am going to purchase the re-issue of Nancy and Lee Question and Answer. Meanwhile this reissue has been on my turntable non-stop.

Tolle Musik, klar, deshalb habe ich die CD bestellt, aber:
Gesang kommt praktisch nur über rechts, die Instrumente mehr oder weniger über die Mitte. Wenn man bei YouTube reinhört (Summer Wine), kommt der Gesang von beiden sauber über die Mitte und die Instrumente über rechts und links verteilt. Und der Klangeindruck insgesamt ist bei YouTube viel klarer.
Den zweiten Stern gibt's nur wegen der Musik von Nancy und Lee.
