About Nancy M. Raabe
An ordained Lutheran minister, author, composer, and musician, Rev Nancy M. Raabe is a native of Southern California and graduate of Pomona College, Phi Beta Kappa. She currently serves as pastor at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Marshall WI. Nancy worked for many years as classical music critic the Boston Globe (freelance), and the Milwaukee Sentinel and Birmingham News (full time), before entering Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus (OH). There she earned a Master of Theological Studies and a Master of Sacred Theology. She completed the requirements for ordination at Wartburg Theological Seminary (IA).
Nancy's books include a critical biography of composer Carl Schalk (2013), and three books of scripture-based "One-Minute Devotions for the Church Musician" (2010-12) geared to the three cycles of the Revised Common Lectionary. Pastor Raabe edited a Gedenkschrift (collection of memorial essays) titled "Alleluia" for Lutheran University Press honoring the late Walter R. Bouman (2015), and she has written scholarly articles on music for various publications including CrossAccent, the journal of the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians.
Pastor Raabe's published music includes 10 books of piano arrangements for Christian hymn tunes, and a similar book of organ preludes. Nancy has published numerous choral and vocal anthems for adults and children, liturgical music, and she made regular contributions to Concordia Publishing House's Hymn Prelude Library.
