The Naniwa Super Stones are exciting Japanese Waterstones for sharpening knives and tools. Like all waterstones, these stones require water but unlike traditional Japanese Waterstones, these don`t require soaking ahead of time. To use these stones, just apply a bit of water to the surface and you`re ready to sharpen. These stones sharpen very quickly. With many of the modern steel alloys, speed of sharpening can be an important factor when considering a sharpening stone. These work well on tough tool steels such as A2 or D2 and very hard stainless alloys popular in Japanese and western cutlery. These stones are made with a resin bond, which allows for a higher level of abrasive particles compared with less expensive methods of stone bonding. The higher abrasive levels contribute to the speed of sharpening. If you are just learning how to hone your own straight razors or if you are already experienced in honing straight razors, you will find these stones easy to work with as well as fantastic results. The Naniwa Super Stones work well for everything from restoring an edge or repairing chips to simply touching up the edge. Thousands of people have learned to hone with these stones and continue to enjoy the results they give. They are one of the easiest stones to learn to hone on and should provide you with years of productive use.The Blue Super Stone S1000 measures 8 1/4` long, 2 3/4` wide and 3/8` thick and is bonded to a solid base. The base provides plenty of knuckle clearance when sharpening knives and is solidly built for sharpening tools.

I definitely recommend this product
Also pay attention to the thickness of this stone, to make sure that what your looking for. It's fairly thin, but its on a base, so it's not going break easily.
This is certainly the softest feeling of the "splash n go" stones i've used. A little softer than my shapton glass stones.
It has a great feel, it even gives a little feedback, which you generally don't get off of these style abrasives.
for a 1000 grit stone, it leaves a VERY nice polish, too nice if you ask me.
Say you are used to using something like the King 1,000 grit stone, and you tried to use this as your 1k instead... you would be in trouble. Generally speaking a 1k stone is anywhere from a medium coarse, to a medium stone. This stone feels more like a 2k. With a my king 1k stone, I can easily set a new bevel, this stone isn't quite coarse enough. I was a little disappointed with this concept, but that is not to say I don't like the stone. It cuts very fast, wears slow and has a nice feel.
The only real drawback is that it is fine for a 1k as I stated above, and also it tends to load up a bit more than it should. Loads up like a high grit stone, this is not good. I did however go ahead and buy the 5k stone so I could use them for my routine sharpening.
I would recommend this stone!
