Delicious Umami, but Takes Practice
This matcha is absolutely delicious once you figure out what you’re doing. I’ve reduced my order on this to just a few times per year and mostly switched to Naomi’s All Purpose Culinary Grade Organic, simply because it’s CLOSE ENOUGH (but not as good as, and thus cheaper than) this Supreme matcha. Seriously, this stuff is heavenly, if a bit finicky.My method: heat 3Tbsp Dark Maple Syrup to hot-but-not-boiling in a small heatproof container, in the microwave; I put it in a small mug. Sift in 2tsp of this matcha and whisk briskly to combine; I use a frother that is turned OFF until the powder is wet before turning it on to whisk in any pockets of dry powder. Leave the hot slurry to sit for at least five minutes, up to a ten minutes. In my quart-size cup or jar, I put in ice and about 1.5 cups of whole milk. Gently mix a little milk into the matcha slurry to thin it out, making sure to get as much of the slurry off the bottom and sides of the container. Pour that matcha mixture into the milk and ice, and stir to combine. I top it off with whipped half-and-half, and enough milk to fill the quart. So good. If it’s too ‘grassy’ you probably need to adjust the heat of syrup OR just try adding less matcha (nah). Keep in mind that this high grade matcha can be easily over heated, over whisked, and/or over indulged; the learning curve is real.

Omg I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this product. Can you see how bright green the matcha powder is?? That is how it’s supposed to look like. You can tell it is such fine, quality ingredients. It’s smooth, not bitter and just overall perfection. I made a banana cream matcha latte & it was AMAZING. I’m excited that I get to save so much money just making it from home. This is the first matcha powder I’ve tried and I’m glad it was this one. If you’re on the fence about buying this one, don’t think just buy!!!

I was out of matcha and since I'm going to Japan soon, I decided to buy Naoki to try out and to cope with my matcha crave for the time being.
A solid matcha powder, beautiful green color. It has a slight bitter taste in milk, and mild taste and little creamy. Depending on the milk you're using, the matcha flavor doesn't really stand out, and if you're using flavored syrups, you probably won't taste much matcha anymore. I used Chobani Oatmilk and the flavor stood out more than when I was using Califa Barista. I only use around 10 mil of simple syrup in my matcha since I do like to taste the tea bitterness.
As thin tea (Usucha), the bitterness stands out but it's still really cream. Less astringent, and your tongue won't be dry after drinking.
