This was one of the first books I got when I began studying Industrial Design. Fukasawa was an inspiration then just as he is now during my senior project. His cultural influences are so keen, and apparent that you can understand his thought process very clearly. Great design that stems from a culture of simplicity and efficiency, from form to the communication of the thought process, Fukasawa is a master anthropologist, and designer. I highly recommend this book, specially the hard cover that apparently is becoming a collector's item. I got mine for less than $100, 4 years ago.
I read through the book from the first page to the last. It is a beautiful book. Beautiful in many ways. His design philosophies penetrate into his every design piece. The design themselves are beautiful in both the outlook and the design rationale. What interested me the most is that he shared his thoughts and design details of the designs, which are very inspiring and valuable for young designers.
Beautiful hard cover makes the book stand out. It has examples of Fukasawa's designs from his early days to his own +-0 collections. An inspiring book that makes you think about how simple designs co-exist in complex environments.
