There is an attempt to establish a taxonomy of submarine types, and map this to the number of reported incidents. While there is enough information to start inferring who the builders are, the book does not draw any firm conclusions. Each type of submarine gets an overall writeup, then there is a brief analysis of construction and incidents.
I'd strongly suggest following the author's web presence for updates: the book goes up to 2019 and there have been significant changes since.
If these things matter to you, there are a few minor typos and spelling errors. The cover picture is not great, I stared at it for a while trying to figure out what it was.

I’m a regular reader — and fan — of H.I. Sutton’s work online. I saw his books cited in a report on the New Cold War and submarines — and ended up buying three different titles of his.
Nifty reference works and fascinating reads. So glad I ordered them ... Sutton does nice work ...

But with that said, the editing and formatting of the book needs work, the current large format looks more like a school textbook than an actual book, and when I look inside the pages there’s just too much unused space inside to justify the size, not to mention some graphics would have benefited from a smaller size, especially when two of different resolutions are put next to each other.
Plus there’s some details here and there that needed catching, like calling Colombians “columbians”, and some text boxes eating into the graphics under them.
Overall though, I cannot recommend this book enough, it’s priceless information that has been superbly researched, and no amount of cosmetic issues will take that away from it.
