My husband had sinus surgery a few months ago. His doctor had us buy a waterpik to irrigate his sinuses. My husband travels a lot for work. Lugging a huge waterpik around the world in his suitcase was not an option. The "portable" waterpik-like devices had much too strong a flow to use for the sinues. I bought this product so that my husband could irrigate while on the road. After a two-week trip abroad, my husband ditched the waterpik and uses only this device.

The tip creates a seal around the edge of the nose, so water does not escape...it just pushes through the sinus cavity. The whole process is much less messy and noisy than using a waterpik or similar device.

My husband took his Nasaline with him on a followup appointment with his doctor. His doctor was so enthused with this ingenious device that he is encouraging his patients to consider this in lieu of using the waterpik.

I also purchased one for my personal use during "sinus weather". No sinus infections for me!

For years Doctors told me to use saline sprays for my allergy and sinus problems. And for years, I tried product after product, time and time again, and none of them did much of anything. The water-pot types were uncomfortable and unpleasant and the mists didn't do much of anything. Well, the Doctors were right about the saline but the products I was buying at the drug and health food stores were wrong.

I found Nasaline at a local Allergy Specialty store about 9 months ago and I use it once or twice a day. It only takes about 2 minutes and it's really easy. Since using Nasaline, my allergy problems are greatly reduced and I'm not having recurring sinus infections anymore.

If you have allergy or sinus infection problems, try this product. It's fast, it's easy and it really works!

Update 3/2008: Nasaline works! I'm still using it and I can still breathe. If you have sinus problems, try this!

I have a strong tendency toward sinus headaches and sinus infections. I my case, my sinus cavities just don't drain well, so pressure builds and a headache results. It isn't unusual for me to have headaches weeks in a row. This product, however, has been a tremendous aid for me. Every morning I flush my sinus cavities out with it. The results are very effective. It cleans them out and adds necessary moisture. The end result is that my sinus headaches, while not completely eliminated, have been reduced quite significantly. While I'm not always eager to take the time to flush my sinus out each morning, it is quite worth it because on the days I don't I almost always end up with a headache. Also, my sinus infections are down and if I get exposed to something that causes higher than usual congestion, I can use it a second time in the day with benefits. I highly recommend the product.

After my sinus surgery this summer, my ENT gave me an ineffective little syringe with a bendy extension to stick on it. What a waste of time that was! If it hadn't been drilled into my head that failure to irrigate would mean the surgery would fail, I would've given up. Instead, I went to Amazon and began researching!
K. Houlding's review on page 1 pretty much says it all; I just want to add that if you've got a sensitive gag reflex as I do, there's a great tip for handling it. Before you start squirting, take a deep breath and slowly say, "Ahhhhhhhhh" the whole time the water is going up and through your sinuses. That does a pretty good job of keeping the salt water from running down your throat. Being an OCD shopper who always has to look for the best price, I searched all over for other sites selling the Nasaline. As far as I could find, NO brick & mortar giants have it--not Target, Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Walgreen's, etc. The "free shipping" merchants on Amazon charge a lot more for the item than the ones who do charge for postage; since I was buying more than 1 irrigator, I chose one with a flat s/h fee no matter how many items were purchased. (It would have been annoying to pay $6 to ship one $12.50 irrigator, but for 3 of them it seemed okay.)

This relatively inexpensive method is the ONLY thing I have been able to find in all these years that would open my sinuses and keep them that way. I can't begin to tell you how much I suffered over the years but this irrigator has freed my life up, truly. Now if only all those ENT folks would find out about it and at long last help patients to find actual relief.

Revised review: for the first time in over ten years, I went the night without any Afrin. Twice daily nasal irrigation was an important part of the process. This may not sound like a big deal, but if you see how people suffer trying to break this habit, you will understand why I have changed my Nasaline Irrigator review from 4 to 5 stars. Below is the original review:

I have no allergies or sinus head ache issues, but nasal irrigation was suggested to me as being helpful for breaking a decade long Afrin addiction cycle...so I went to Amazon and read the reviews. Nasaline was easily #1 for price and effectiveness. The Nasaline info also mentions that their kit is good for this purpose. The reason for the 4 star review (and not 5 like most other reviewers)is that Nasasline irrigation on its own has not proven 100% effective at stopping nose drop rebound. However, it has greatly improved my general breathing and is, I think, an important part of a 3 pronged program which now includes BreathRight strips, Naslaline irrigation, and gradually titrated (watered down)Afrin withdrawal.

In the past, I've tried saline sprays that did no good what so ever. Breath-right Strips were very helpful, but I still needed a hit of Afrin at least at night. Recently, my Dr offered me a steroid spray, but I am reluctant to use it. So if any one is interested, here is the program I started as of receiving my Nasaline last week:

I am Irrigating twice a day (I use Nasaline's saline packets). It is important not to wait until your membranes swell and you become congested..the solution will just go down your throat, out your mouth or into your ear canal. In the evening when I start to clog up, I first put on a Breathright strip and then use the Nasaline.
