1. This book should be a mandatory read for every High School student prior to graduation.
2. This book should be read by SOMEONE who can and will do something about our prison system.
3. This book should be on the best sellers list.
the PEOPLE he encounters there.... amazing! the guards are sadistic maniacs...the staff totally corrupt. the other inmates ALL have such amazing stories - you just want to get to know them better (of course not the same way the author got to know them). written by a guy who fundamentally has to re-invent himself, re-discover himself... and ultimately sacrifice about all he has.
stories include evacuating the prison during the flood, dealing with hateful prison staff, racism, corruption, contraband, prison language...
easy to read, easy to understand - but not easy to put down, this book is a wild ride.
if you give this story a chance...it will get under your skin - and give you some new things to ponder as you go to sleep at night.
If you think this can't happen to someone you know or someone in your family think again, I never in a million years thought I'd be reading this book written by my middle-aged brother!
