Sturdy piece

Pretty sturdy. Wanted some cheap extra insurance for our basement back door and I think this does the trick. Fair price too. For reference I used size 14 three inch screws. Needs a 1/8 in drill bit size for the pilot holes.

cheap added security

Sturdy and cheap. There is no better way to add some security to your doors that might not be used as often. I installed this on a back garage door that I really only use when we're hosting people on our deck. I don't remember if this came with screws, but I'd suggest drilling some pilot holes and using some lag bolts. If someone wants to break in that door, they're going to have to use a battering ram and make one heck of a racket. By that point they'd probably have already regretted the decision to break into my house. I used this in conjunction with the National Mfg closed bar holder. I also added a screw with the head sticking out so if someone wanted to try and jiggle the 2x4 loose, its not going to move because the screw head will hit the open bar holder and not allow the 2x4 to slip out of the closed bar holder.

Great for using 2 X 4 to hold larger door closed

These work great for using with a standard 2 X 4 to lock a door closed from the inside. Much better than any Latch you could find. I have a 10ft opening with 2, 5ft doors. I used 4 of these near in a line at the top and 4 in a line near the bottom with 2 standard 8ft 2 X 4 to keep the doors closed and aligned so they don't warp out of shape. I gave them a 4* because the mounting area with 3 holes I think should have been longer because there isn't much surface area compared to the leverage of the 2 X 4 that you slide in.

Use these to defeat a kick in door break.

Very solid metal brackets. Will secure my door with a 2 x 4. Both of my locks failed and the back door was kicked by the intruder
One was a dead bolt, the screws weren't long enough to be secure in the frame.
Be sure use the longest screws you can get.
I am using 3.5 inch self-drilling construction screws. Will install one set at the top of the door and one near the bottom.
Only negative is that you can't secure from the outside.
Fast delivery and high quality.

The item arrived in 2 days as promised.
I used them to allow a 2x4 to be placed across the door at my grandmother's house to make her feel safer.
I used a 3/4" piece of the 2x4 on each side of the door, then I used 4" lag bolts to secure the product to the sides of the door.
This is a very good way to secure the doors.

Used this along with an closed bar braket to make a door barrier using a 2x4 sanded and painted to match the front door color and trim color so when its up, it blends in well. Don't think anyone's going to knock down, home invade, etc. Also have a large 8" bolt at top of door along with standard lock and deadbolt. Nowadays can 't be too safe.
