BEWARE, though, the other reviews aren't kidding about the tree scratching you. I thought that was nonsense and had no issues putting the tree up and fluffing up a bit to test it out (I took it back down, because it was summer). However, the weight of the middle portion almost knocked me over when I went to take it down, and I'm an average-size woman, so this tree puts up a fight. The "leaves" fought back when I tried to press all the parts back together to fit into the box. I had numerous scratches on my hands and arms from this. Definitely wear thicker, long-sleeved clothing when taking it down.
Also, the little screw for the base is supposed to align with a little plastic/rubber hole when you put the base together. I never saw this and broke the little plastic part. Tree held in place fine, though, and I'm too lazy to ask for another.
*A helpful hint...it is difficult to rotate the tree in this stand. I would put something under it that allows it to spin more easily. I.e. Like a square piece of carpet or something similar etc...
The only quirks I found so far were:
a single dead bulb, which there are a bunch of extra bulbs. However, they appear to all be red and yellow, definitely no blue or green bulbs.
The green tree wire that was tied to hold the branches was a pain. Almost too tight to pull the bottom branches out for the fluffing. I plan to use twine for storage and tie each layer individually for easier fluffing next year.
Some branches have sort of a weird irregularity but is not obvious after setting it up
Overall, I really like the tree and hope it lasts for a few years.
Update post season 1:
Tree was up for over a month with lights on for several hours a day. No dead sections and haven't noticed any dead bulbs while folding it up. It does seem a bit more abrasive on the hands going down than it did going up. But that could be because my hands are pretty dry right now. Tree's current price of $495 is more than I would pay though.
After the years of use and replacing numerous burnt out bulbs, sadly I have a string in the middle that is half dead. Hopefully I can find the problem and not have to replace the entire strand.
