I can see there will be some small challenges in seamlessly/dynamically having my Maschine arrangements populate into Studio One tracks that allows for maximum flexibility (when combining with more traditionally recorded tracks in the DAW). It will work fine as it is since it's quite easy to export from Maschine into the DAW but isn't quite as flexible as working in the native maschine environment exclusively.
At first I wasn't sure if the colour graphic displays were acutally worth it or not (compared to the smaller model) but I'm finding that it really helps me arrange without ever even looking at the laptop environment.
Unfortunately two of the potentiometer knobs have started to jump pretty erratically. These are the knobs that allow you to fine tune things, make adjustments to sounds, control volume, etc. In other words they're extremely important and are crippling to your work flow when they do not function properly. I've reached out to Native Instruments for options and they have offered to replace the unit for $120, I assume I will also have to pay shipping. That being said, this unit was originally $1000, and I expected the hardware to last a little longer than a year and a half especially when it spent it's entire life sitting on a desk and was only used once or twice a week.
In my conversation with Native Instruments I asked them to clarify the average life expectancy of an expensive unit such as this before I fork over the additional $120 for a replacement. That was on November 29th and I've yet to hear anything back.
I'm extremely disappointed with the quality of the Maschine Studio. A $1000 (now $799) piece of hardware should last longer than a year and a half.
