Product Description

Honeyville's Natural Almond Flour is a great way to cook with limited carbohydrate intake (low carb). Our almond flour is tested and certified to be gluten-free. Natural Almond Flour, also known as almond meal, is quite simply almonds (which have their dark skin) that are milled into a fine flour. With a fraction of the carbs of wheat flour, almond flour provides a hearty flavor and consistency without adding all of those empty calories. Chock full of protein and dietary fiber, almond flour works well in a wide array of recipes. Natural Almond Flour is great as a base in cakes, puddings, muffins, and as a thickener. For a lighter flour that has the almond skins removed, try Honeyville Blanched Almond Flour. Honeyville Natural Almond Flour is an ideal product for your gluten-free baking needs.

I'm sure this is a fine product, but it is substantially cheaper to buy it directly through the company where as of Sep 2, 2009, 5 lbs. of Natural Almond Flour costs $26.99 and the shipping is the same. I'm not sure I'm allowed to type the URL but do a search for their company name and it will come up. Happy baking.

If you are following the Specific Carbohydrate Diet, this product is a staple. I have gone through a 5 pound bag of this almond flour each month for the past 3 months. I am thinking of ordering two bags at a time because it can be stored in the freezer. I find it works best in recipes when I sift it through a collander.

I use almonds in cereal, cake and bread, both for nutrition and taste. For years, I've been grinding my own. This is a high quality product that saves time since it's already ground. The price is highly competitive.

Exception price. Love this item for my baking needs. Nice to find it at this price. Even with shipping, I paid less than what it costs on the shelf locally.

This flour is NOT blanched, since the skins are included in the almond meal. If they are blanched, it would be odd. Most of the time, companies remove the skins as the next step in blanching the almonds. If you don't understand why people keep asking if they are blanched, it's because almond skins (like most nut skins, including pecans, walnuts, etc.) have chemicals called phytates which are a type of toxin. Phytates can cause problems with digestion and absorption of nutrients for many people. Others have a similar (but milder) reaction to the phytates that they have with wheat/gluten allergies (I'm in this group).

Decided to buy the natural instead of blanched as the price of Honeyville blanched has been fluctuating a bit much for my tastes (and always seems to be higher when I'm ready to buy it, go figure). The natural is ground just as finely as the blanched and works perfectly in the various low carb applications I use it in. A much finer grind than Bob's Red Mill, which is more like a meal than a flour to me. I could fool any carb lover into believing almond flour pancakes made with Honeyville product were the real deal; Bob's texture just doesn't cut it. As long as the price/availablity of blanched is so unpredictable I'll have no problem buying the natural.

This brand is the finest ground almond flour I've found. It makes fantastic baked goods - cookies, cakes, breads etc. I like this flour for all of my gluten free baking. It is more fine than the Bob's Red Mill brand almond flour even though theirs says it's finely ground on their package, it isn't nearly as fine as the Honeyville.
