From my experience, the residual effect (when applied to the dog) lasts about three days. If a place does not have a "permanent" supply of fleas for which a long-term treatment is not necessary, this product will take care of the eventual ones.
So I researched., read a lot of reviews on few that stood out. And I picked this! Because it's safe on dogs, I can use it on my bed and spray wherever I needed too. I was super skeptical, because I have never seen any flea sprays that actually worked unless it's one of those chemical stuff.
OMG! It really works!
Soon as I sprayed the dogs and massaged it on to their skin.. I started seeing so many fleas (oh Lordy.., way way more than I expected) going crazy, crawling out fast from wherever they were hiding (still on their bodies)..
That visual is still hunting me. Every time j think about it., I can't stop scratching myself. Gross!
Even the dogs felt the fleas freaking out, crawling all over.. Dogs got hyper, pacing back and forth, not knowing what's happening., rolling their bodies on the floor...
Then 2-3 mins of all the dramas.., they were calm again. The Fleas really died!
I had to brush their fur/hair and Ended up rinse them again with plain warm water to get rid of the dead fleas. Made sure I didn't wash out all the spray solutions. (No shampoo/soap)
It's amazing seeing how these dog's behavior changed. They were so peaceful, never seen them so relaxed, as they curled next to each other. I was so use to them constantly fidgeting, scratching..
I'm not a reviewer, don't care to..
But I really had to share my story.
And No, I'm not one of those lucky peeps, who gets products for free for their reviews.
I'm still trying to figure out how that happens..
And I don't trust half of those reviews they write. Grr
1. Buy a flea comb.
2. Comb his or her coat going slowly and methodically using a flashlight to see inspect what the comb finds while it is still on his / her coat.
3. Fleas will either be on the top or in the middle of the comb. You don't have long before they will jump off or run away, so SPRAY IMMEDIATELY ONTO THE COMB AND COAT THE FLEA. Each time you finish a pass, check the "jail cell" of the comb (between the two rows) and see if there are any fleas trapped in there. They re less likely to get out and we just spray the entire comb, wait 30 seconds, then clear out the cadaver with a thin piece of cardboard.
4. Again… you need to act fast, and once the flea is coated, he's doomed. But they are really clever little buggers who will simply leap to freedom if you don't act fast, so we do this with two people… one combing, while the other holds the flashlight in one hand and the spray in the other.
I called the company and they told me what is in the product. Apparently there are two food grade compounds. Both are found in over the counter drugs that are used as laxatives and something else which is an acid compound… I think as a stool softener? I can't remember. But apparently you can drink a cup of this stuff and you'll have stomach cramps and really really bad diarrhea. That's safe enough for me to feel comfortable using it on my dog's coat, and our dog is FAMILY.
Basically, the first compound soaks the flea and causes his or her incredibly hard shell to soften. Damn things have armor!!!! Then the second compound, the acid, basically fries the little bastards, which, to be completely honest, thrills me no end. Call me sick, but there is nothing more enjoyable to see these nasty blood sucking buggers take a bath in this stuff and die. They are eating my dog and sucking its blood, and I owe them no mercy. Hopefully I won't go to hell for that, but I really despise these things, and if you've ever been infested, I know you agree. Victory!!!!
Here are the caveats, and I wish you cat owners out there would learn how to read. This stuff has an acid in it that WILL DRY OUT THE COAT if used more than once every three days. So don't spray the entire coat on a regular basis… no more often than once every three days. AND… cats LICK their coats, and since the compound causes uncontrollable laxative effects that could KILL YOUR CAT you must NOT use this on cats. Read the damn label people. Not for cats. Feline NIX!. Nicht fur den Meow meow. Its NOT for use on cats, and DON'T let your dogs drink or lick this stuff either. You shouldn't drink it either unless you like going to the bathroom and are looking for a terrible excuse to miss work. Its a strong laxative. Don't drink it. Not for kitties. Okay?
What I haven't figured out is how to get the fleas out of our carpet. I've tried the little flea traps with the night light. Those work too! But how long do we have to have those things in our bedroom? I'm trying DE next… I'll review the product when I get it.
- It works as stated. I spray this on my medium size dog every three days. I did not have any reoccurring flea and tick breakout. I have been using this spray for many weeks this summer.
- This spray is less toxic compared to other flea sprays.
- This spray can handle both fleas and their eggs. I found not all sprays can handle flea eggs.
- The price and amount is reasonable compared to other sprays.
- Not for Cats
I brought this flea and tick spray because my dog had a flea and tick infestation this summer. I like the fact that this spray was less toxic compared to a lot of other flea and tick sprays. I don't see how we can be spraying a flea spray on our pets if it is that toxic. It would be poisonous for both the owner and the pet. Reading the labels on some of these sprays I found to be scary because it sounds so toxic.

Doesn't seem to kill eggs. Nice smell.
Need to supplement with a monthly flea treatment system.
