Easy Non-fortified Nutritional Yeast Recipes
Cashew Cheese Sauce
1 cup raw cashew nuts (soaked overnight in water)
½ cup Sari Foods Non-fortified Nutritional Yeast
1 tbsp white miso
1 tsp garlic powder (or fresh minced garlic)
1 tsp onion powder (or fresh minced onion)
½ tsp mustard powder
A pinch of ground nutmeg
Salt and pepper, to taste
Approximately 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
Drain the cashews and discard the water they were soaked in. Add to a high-powered blender along with the rest of the ingredients and blend until smooth. Add more almond milk if needed to create the desired consistency. Use straight away or add to a container and store in the fridge for up to 3 days.
Juice Pulp Veggie Burgers
1 15-ounce can garbanzo beans
1 cup Sari Foods Non-fortified Nutritional Yeast
1 cup juice pulp from juicing
1 teaspoon garlic powder
Mash all the ingredients together in a bowl until well combined and form into patties.
Heat some coconut oil in a pan and when hot add the patties. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side. Top with whatever you fancy, we love ours with some salsa and avocado or a big dollop of hummus.
Creamy Kale and Spinach dip
1 1/4 cups cashews, soaked overnight & drained
1 tbsp + 1 tbsp olive oil, divided
1/2 cup unsweetened plain almond milk
5 tbsp Sari Foods Non-fortified Nutritional Yeast
3/4 tsp + 1/4 tsp sea salt, divided
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 10-ounce package frozen chopped spinach, thawed and squeeze-drained.
3 cups kale, finely chopped
1/4 cup Vegan Parmesan Cheese
optional: veggies, crackers, chips, or 1/2 baguette sliced and toasted, for serving.
Soak your cashews the night before.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (176 C).
Add the soaked and drained cashews to a blender with the almond milk, 1/4 cup nutritional yeast, 3/4 tsp sea salt and and puree into a cream. Season to taste and set aside.
In a large skillet over medium heat, sauté garlic in 1 Tbsp olive oil and add the spinach and kale. Cook for until wilted, then remove from heat, add 3/4 of the cashew cream and toss to combine.
Add to a prepared baking dish and top with vegan parmesan. Bake for 15-20 minutes.
Serve and enjoy!
