The game starts with a prologue where a student intern goes to a remote island to help a mad scientist create mutated plants...it doesn't end well. The story then jumps forward several years to the main part of the game where you and a group of your friends go sailing, get lost in a storm and end up on the island which is now overrun with strange and deadly plants. When you wake up you discover that your friends are scattered all over the island and many have been captured by some monstrous plant roaming the island. The object of the game is to uncover the secrets of the island, rescue your friends and escape from the island.

The exploration of the island is where the artistic skills of the creators of the game really shine, I thought the renderings of the landscape were great, of particular interest was the fact that many of the background vegetation reacted when you rolled over them with your cursor...at times even the flying bugs seemed to follow your cursor around. The game is a mix of finding and using inventory items, hidden object scenes and puzzles. A few of the puzzles were repetitive, and some of them seemed impossible to solve, but overall it was a very elaborate game with a long playing time.

Some downsides: the occasional animated sequences were of very low quality; the game froze up on me twice; and the end of the game got a bit tedious (as a lot of them do). However overall I highly recommend this game.

Really enjoyed this game. Definitely a true adventure/hidden object game. The graphics are great, many scenes to explore, music appropriate, many mini cut scenes that are very welcome, interesting story, hint button refreshes fairly fast and helps with objects and also points you in the right direction if you get stuck. You can play it to be challenged or relaxed with ample hints. Great puzzles. Some puzzles definitely challenging but the skip button is there to minimize frustration. Very happy with purchase and price.

I was very disappointed with this game. The content of the game is very creative and I was having a good time playing until the first time it froze on me. I went to the help section and did all the hints to try to make it work, I uninstalled and reinstalled which made me start the whole game over. It froze again, I restarted and made a new character, long story short after 3 restarts, I completely uninstalled the whole game, never getting to finish to the end. I like hidden object games, and this one was at least as good as the average one. However, it kept freezing up. Worse than that, my computer started freezing up even when the game wasn't running! I uninstalled it -- end of problem. I was disappointed because it was an interesting game. I've never had that problem before, using this or any other computer. Hope it doesn't get to be a regular thing...

I bought this for my mother. She enjoyed playing it very much. I had to assist her in several spots to move on. There were no problems with the game freezing up as in some of the other reviews.
Game length 9+ hrs.
Also, Atlanta Gamer provides a good review.

Alawar games are among my faves, mainly because of the aesthetics, but this one is put together so carelessly that it doesn't deserve more than 3 stars, perhaps even fewer.
The problem list:
- Game crashed, with 2 minutes to go (not uncommon with Alawar games; game did save at the right place).
- No (interactive) map: Much cumbersome time is spent going manually back and forth between locations. This is why the game takes so long, not because the story is complex.
- In a letter-puzzle instruction, the name of the Italian painter Arcimboldo is mis-spelled 'Archimbolbo.' The 'H' is there, but good luck finding that second 'B' in the puzzle! (it's a 'D')
- One HO instruction merely reads "1/25," without any indication of what those 25 items are. (they're shards of stained glass)
- HO scenes are re-used over and over. Fun interaction within HO games, such as moving stuff or using one object with another, stops after just a few games.
- The same names show up in various spellings - sometimes correct, sometimes phonetic - leaving you to wonder if they are the same characters. Example: Steiner vs. Shtainer (Could be worse, as in Alawar's Twisted Lands, Shadow Town: "Hose Diaz," and in Twisted Lands, Insomniac: "Huan Perero" - how ignorant and insulting! - and there's no Russian second language excuse: I am neither a native speaker of English nor of Spanish.)
- The ending is abrupt and completely undeveloped.

Pros: Good Graphics, good Story enmeshed in Good HOGs, Nice LONG story a plus. As usual with Alawar, no DRM.

Cons: No Map, very tedious traveling around, for those of you who like the Walkthroughs, don't use Margie B's this time. It's the worse one she has ever done. You end up stuck in places because it doesn't tell you to pick up things you need. If you don't use a walkthrough then you 50% of the time you will be wandering through a huge map trying to find things and wondering what to do with them when you do find them.
