The foot bed was nicely cushioned though, so I almost kept them. As I vacillated, I realized that I had the same issue with another pair of "wide" (but not really) Naturalizer sandals in a similar style (Naturalizer Women's Cooper Slingback Sandal) that after two years haven't loosened up. (And the Coopers weren't as tight as these Catrinas in the first place.)
If you're not looking for something that would be comfortable for extended periods of walking, then these would probably work out for you.
Aside from my fit issues, I also found the style to be a bit matronly (which would have been completely fine if only they had been super-comfortable. But they weren't.)
As others have pointed out, the heel and back straps are sloppy and don't stay up very well. Because I got them on the cheap and only plan on wearing them on a few occasions, taking the elastic insert out of the inner straps worked well for me. I would not recommend the shoes for anyone planning on wearing them a lot unless they plan on possibly spending time or money doing adjustments too. I agree that a buckle rather than velcro may have helped solve this issue.
All in all, I got what I paid for and I am happy with them.
