This is the way to go if you are using Nature-2 as your sanitizer. Don't try to figure out your spa chemistry using regular test strips for chlorine or bromine sanitized spas, they won't tell you what you need to know. Free chlorine is not important because the Nature-2 system keeps free chlorine very low, about 0.5ppm, and most test strips will have a hissy fit. The key element with Nature-2 is monopersulfate (MSP) and very few strips measure this. After months of chasing readings and doing research, I finally found that the Nature-2 test strips covered exactly what I needed.

I didn't know the Nature2 system existed until recently. I'm trying it and it seems to work. After owning a chlorine treated pool for 20 years it made me feel uneasy not to put any chlorine in our new spa. Two weeks later and the spa water is crystal clear.

These Nature2 strips don't even contain a test for chlorine. They are reasonably priced and work as advertised.

The Nature2 system will save money.

I have used RENU cartridge system for our spa for several years. It gives a "softwater" feel to the water, and does not require using either bromine nor chlorine. Key to keeping the system working correctly is to maintain the proper balance. I use these strips every other day to make sure that things are working correctly. If not, I adjust the shock treatment accordingly. Through experience, I found that these strips are essential. If I wait until the system is way out of balance, it becomes difficult to correct and I risk odors and cloudiness.

Nature2 is a low chlorine system that basically operates the opposite of a chlorinated spa. In a chlorinated spa, chlorine is maintained and added after every use, with a once weekly MPS shock. In a Nature2 spa, MPS level is maintained in the spa and added after every use, with a once weekly chlorine shock. You'll find most test strips measure chlorine, but not MPS. These Nature2 strips measure MPS and PH levels. While they are a little expensive, you'll soon learn how much chemical to add after each use, and probably only need to test weekly.

While I've yet to have a problem with anyone using our spa, some people are sensitive to MPS and can break out in a rash. A Nature2 system is a little more expensive to maintain, but I find it easier than chlorine, and there's very little odor (MPS may have its own slight odor).

I have tested Alkazone Ph Test Strips for Water, Micro Essential Lab 9800 pHydrion pH Range: 0.0 To 14.0, 100 pH (Strips/Vial, Plastic pH Test Strips), and Nature2's Spa Test Strips. While the Alkazone strips are an improvement over the Micro Essential Lab 9800 pHydrion (pHydrion) strips (which don't work at all), the colors are not as vivid as they appear on the comparison sample on the container. In addition, a solution I knew to be a pH of 9 tested as a 7 using the Alkazone strips. In fact, plain Fiji bottled water tested at a 7 and the pH reading on the Alkazone strips appeared unchanged even after adding alkalizing drops and/or baking soda both of which should have brought the pH above 9.

With the pHydrion strips, plain Fiji bottled water tested between a 3-4 pH while the Fiji bottle claims it is a 7.8 pH. Also, the color of the pHydrion strips does not change consistently throughout the strip. In fact, anything under a pH of 8 will only change the edges of the litmus paper such that the edges will be green while the center remains peach/orange/yellow.

The Nature2's Spa Test Strips appear to work the best for testing water. They appear to be relatively accurate; unfortunately, these strips don't test pH above an 8.

A little more expensive than other strips, but I believe they do the best job of consistently measuring spa chemistry. If find the colors easier to read. Other strips tend to shift in color quite a bit in 2 minutes after testing, but these develop their measurement color quickly and then hold it for several minutes.

This is a must for keeping the chemical balance in your hot tub. Just read the directions and be sure not to leave these strips outside by the tub, as they are not supposed to left under a certain temperature. My tub is outside, so I just store them inside!

They store that sold me the hot tub sells test strips. I had previously bought them at the store, and then found them on Amazon. I bought some from Amazon, used both strips at the same time and the results were identical. Why pay twice the price? I never will again. These are great.
