Nature's Kiss Helichrysum Gymnocephalum Essential Oil has a clean and fresh aroma that is somewhat floral and slightly spicy. Some people do not detect the spiciness and claim that it reminds them of honey in tea. Others claim it is a beautiful scent that is reminiscent of vapor rub initially, then is replaced by the floral scent. It is a medium to strong aroma with a base note.

I bought this Helichrysum essential oil a few months ago before I'd done much research into using EOs for therapeutic purposes: it turns out that this type of Helichrysum, Gymnocephalum, is not considered the best not the most potent strain of Helichrysum which you find in the higher-end essential oil companies -- that would be Helichrysum Italicum. H. Italicum is the strain with consistently high levels of anti-inflammatory curcumenes and regenerative di-ketones. H. Gymnocephalum has lower levels of these molecular components, though I couldn't tell you how much lower. But now that I know this, it's no wonder this was so inexpensive compared to DoTerra's and Young Living's (both Helichrysum I.) EOs!
Having established all that, I do think this oil has some good beneficial properties, based on my limited use of it. At first, I used a couple drops of Nature's Kiss Helichrysum Gymnocephalum EO in a homemade facial mask; it had a cool, slightly tingling effect on my skin. I do believe it did its job there in terms of improving my skin's texture and smoothness, but of course that kind of thing is highly subjective. One month later, my son sported a deep muscle injury from training for wrestling on his upper arm; he could barely lift the arm and was in constant pain. The coach had applied an ice pack to the arm right away, but when we got home that afternoon (about two hours after the injury occurred), I made a concoction of Helichrysium, Wintergreen, Blue Tansy, and Peppermint EOs -- loosely interpreting a recipe from a very pricey EO blend used for soothing injuries and aches. I diluted it in extra virgin coconut oil and rubbed lightly over the injured area. This mixture dulled the pain somewhat, but I admit he also took an Advil before bed The next morning the pain did not return and the injury had lessened up somewhat, so I applied more of the mixture to the area before he went to school. By the end of the day, his injury had nearly disappeared, my son could lift his arm again and we still haven't seen a bruise or any visible sign of injury on his arm since. Who's to say if that's due to the Helichrysum or something else?
So there's my personal testimony for this product. I am now a believing skeptic for Helichrysum G. Essential Oil by Nature's Kiss. As with their other EOs, my opinion of this product is that it is a good quality EO for a very reasonable price: a budget alternative to the more premium EO brands out there, if perhaps not the absolute top medicinal variety. When this bottle is finally used up, I plan on investing in a bottle of H. Italicum essential oil, which can be had from a few other companies on Amazon, and other external Web sites. It pays to do one's research before buying expensive aromatherapeutic products -- I know that now. Hopefully you can benefit from reading of my experiences, to then make the right purchase for yourself. Happy shopping!
The oil arrived very quickly, and fortunately so. I ordered the oil last Sunday. This past Thursday, I tripped and fell chin-first into a desk at work. My jaw was terribly bruised and swollen, as were my knees and elbows...
On arriving home Thursday evening, after six hours in the ER, what did I find in the days' mail? The helichrysum oil I'd ordered just a few days before.
Spent Friday applying the oil and icing the injuries. It's early Saturday morning now, and I'm up taking a pain pill...checked the mirror, and the bruising is already healing! The discoloration is much lighter, and is 25% less in area than yesterday.
My gosh, this is amazing stuff. I just placed an order for the 30ml size Nature's Kiss sells. Hopefully it will arrive quickly too...I don't want to be without this magic potion.
I have sometimes-sensitive skin. The oil is not causing any ill effect that I can see or feel. It has a pungent, camphorous smell, so I'd not wear it as perfume...but for first aid purposes, the odor is just fine. Helichrysum's got a permanent place in my medicine cabinet!
