Having used almost one full bottle of these alfalfa capsules, I'm very pleased with this product. The capsules are easy to swallow; in fact, I can easily swallow three together at one time. The quality is very good and I do seem to feel better having taken them regularly with meals. However, at age 78 and recovering from chemotherapy and radiation treatments for cancer, I do currently have some problem with not enough energy. I can't honestly say that I've noticed any increase in energy by taking these capsules, as some reviewers have reported. In any case, I know that alfalfa is an excellent food and this product seems to be superior a one I had been using that is no longer available on amazon.com.
I have taken alfafa for quite a while now. A friend told me about this herbal a few years ago due to my allergies as she said that it would help with my seasonal allergies. I've never really found it to help with that aspect but I use it as a mild diuretic. I tend to retain fluid at times due to peripheral vascular disease (in other words, when I stand for a long time sometimes my ankles swell). When this occurs, I take about 4 alfafa tablets and it helps me get rid of that excess fluid. I had been taking the tablet type but found that they were very hard to swallow and now am having difficulty finding them at stores like Walmart or Walgreens. I now have to go to Whole Foods or some other vitamin store like GNC and the cost is much more expensive. This supplement is the actually leaves of the alfafa plant and it is contained in an easy to swallow geletin capsule. I actually think that this product is more effective as a diuretic than the pressed tablets. Through Amazon, I get them via subscription every 3 months (you can choose your frequency) and I save about $6 over what I would pay at Whole Foods and it is shipped to my house for free (I don't have to drive across town to the Whole Foods store). I am very happy with this product and Amazon service.
Amazing product.!! I’ve taken these a few weeks before I delivered my second & continued during postpartum period and the alfalfa has cut my bleeding time literally in half & has helped my body bounce back quicker.!! Also- super fast shipping.!! Thank you.!!
Over the summer, I contracted Lyme Disease. Taking Alfalfa was part of the recommended protocol in the Prescription for Nutritional Healing by Phyllis Balch.
I would recommend this supplement to anyone who is looking for Alfalfa at an affordable price.
The only downside to this particular product is the dosing. Each capsule is 405mg and the Nutrition Label recommends taking 3 capsules, 3 times a day. Depending on how much Alfalfa it is suggested you take, you may need to take more or less capsules than the recommended dose to achieve the amount.
Overall, Nature's Way provides a quality product at a comparable price.
I had MAJOR milk supply issues when I nursed my first daughter; and as I am currently expecting again, I am taking this herb as a measure to prevent that problem from reoccurring. My lactation consultant recommended that I read The Breastfeeding Mother's Guide to Making More Milk: Foreword by Martha Sears, RN when I was struggling to nurse my first child (I cannot even begin to tell you how helpful this book was to me, really. Please buy this book if you are having any trouble nursing, it made a world of difference for me.), and this herb is recommended in pregnancy to help with insufficient glandular tissue. Interestingly enough, alfalfa is a major component of the diet of dairy cows and goats, and we all know what THOSE udders look like! I have read that this can cause stomach upset, but I haven't had a problem. And I hate to provide TMI, but so far, it is working! The girls are looking great!!!
I am not sure what Alfalfa is supposed to be good for other than maybe animal feed. I was told to try taking it to help with pain I was having in my hands. Someone told me they tried this old wives remedy and it worked for them so I ordered it. I have been taking Alfalfa, two capsuls a day for about six months. I no longer have those pains in my hands, hips, or shoulder, so I will continue to take these until that pain comes back. It is very easy to take, the capsuls are much easier to swollow than the pills. I highly recommend the capsuls over the pills, I can't in good faith recommend the capsuls to relieve your pain. All I can suggest is try taking them, they could help you too.
