“Nazi Ecology” deconstructs the anti-Semitic historical background of the early German green movement of the 19th century which was absorbed by National Socialism that became the foundation for biological Anti-Semitism in the 20th century. While many have decried the industrial nature of the Holocaust, such views cannot explain the motive behind the greatest crime of the 20th century. Nazi racism was foreshadowed by the Social Darwinism of German Romanticism in the 1800’s that laid the ecological foundations for what is otherwise known today as environmentalism. “Nazi Ecology” explains why the Holocaust is best understood as a modernized form of human sacrifice carried out under ecological/biological camouflage that is rooted in the sacrificial oak imagery of ancient paganism. The word Holocaust itself means “whole burnt offering.”

About the Author

In 1989, Mark Musser graduated from the Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington, one of the premier environmental institutions in the country. In 1994, he received a Master of Divinity from Western Seminary in Portland, Oregon. Mark is married to Caren. They have three children. Mark and his family were missionaries to the former Soviet Union for seven years before planting a church in Olympia, Washington called Grace Redeemer Bible Church in 2004. As of 2018, they are now missionaries again in the former Soviet Union. While on the mission field, Mark became captivated by the history of World War II on the Eastern Front.

Excellent essay style discussions of the Nazi worldview and its philosophical heritage. I was able to see enormous parallel with ancient near East, (thanks to Biblical allusion,) and today's culture, thanks to the author's help. This book was written by an author with a Bible-believing worldview, which is apparent at the beginning and end, yet he treats the rather anti-Biblical subjects fairly. This makes for a good read instead of the typical books about Nazis which often rant about how morally corrupt they and their actions were, without adequately exploring their beliefs first. I think this book would be most helpful to those who, despite their powerful opinions, know little of the true philosophical background of Socialism, German Romanticism, Environmentalism, Hitler's National Socialism, the Bible, and their historic and present day parallels...It might help people realize how closely the present secular world still resembles the morally confused and violent past, regardless of the lavish PC lip-service to the contrary.
