The package was so air tight that when I opened it, I could smell the paint they'd used on the figure. Smoker's tall, at full height he appears slightly taller than my NECA Engineers from Prometheus. He can stand on his own, but I prefer to use stands. The paint job is fantastic, and his clothes are wonderfully rendered with realistic tears and stains. The body has multiple points of articulation including wrists, feet, hips, knees and elbows and can be posed in a wide variety of ways. The face and head are spot on with the game, bulbous tumors and oddly placed tongues abound. The shirt around his right chest/shoulder is ripped, revealing more tumors and disfigured flesh stretching down the right arm, which still bears scraps of his torn shirt. Smoker arrives with two additional tongues for his naturally placed mouth, one long, one short. They fit quite well, and are flexible enough to wrap around other objects and figures. It's a pity there are no Survivor figures, Infected LOVE Ellis for some reason. Maybe he's carrying candy?
My main complaint is the same as most, the head has a bad habit of falling off. When I went to attach the long tongue after opening the package, the head immediately fell off. It was a struggle to get it back onto the ball-joint, and it fell off several more times as I worked the tongues and set it up for display. I honestly considered just supergluing the head on, but it's on now and hopefully will stay put. I don't like to go to such extremes as gluing part of a figure down. This figure is far better for display than for active play.
Aside from the ill-fitting connection between head and neck, this is a worthy figure and another masterpiece from NECA.
The figure comes with two different length tongues, both of which are flexible and bendable to give any look that you want. Kind of fun to wrap the longer length tongue around other figures and make it look like the smoker is actually pulling them in to him. Cool stuff!
It's incredibly detailed and I haven't had any issues in posing the figure. It will stand upright on it's own and is fairly sturdy in the process. It comes with several little bendable tongues that you can swap out depending on the look you are going for. ( The tongue on his back and in his mouth both come out )
I only have one issue with my figure, and I haven't heard about anyone else having this issue so it may be just me. But my smoker likes to randomly lose his head if I turn it a certain way or happen to move him in a jerky manner. It does pop back on, but it's kind of (really) annoying. It doesn't effect my love for the figure any, because I just have it on display. Overall I am incredibly pleased with Neca and the quality of this! Now if only they would release the survivors. :)
The same fear gripping looks of the infected in both games is captured in this figurine. It has opposable limbs, bending tongues (plus some interchangeable extras that range in length!), and even a shirt that isn't a part of his torso. The details in it are mind blowing. For example, you can see several tongues winding around the neck of the Smoker. And the amount of articulation makes posing him for gruesome attacks even more fun.
