Oh my oh my! This was the sweetest book ever! Filled with adorable animals and HOT heros, this was a fabulous start to the new spin-off series of the St. Helena series and it was worth every page! Just like it's series predecessor, it's absolutely hilarious and quite a fun romp! Also, be prepared for some teary moments and some hero worship moments. I love a book with rescue pets in it and more when someone will stop at nothing to rescue them. This book will fill your heart with joy and awe and love and laughter. I absolutely love St. Helena where there's always something going on and because it's a small town everyone knows what before you even decided to follow through haha it's just ridiculously perfect! So if you love small town romance, rescue animals and laughing hysterically at the antics the characters get up to well then look no further, this books for you!!

Charming! Marina's hero, hunky Deputy Jonah, and her quirky heroine, pet groomer/rescuer Shay were a perfect match! If you enjoy colorful, quirky characters, both two-legged and four-legged, small town romances, and a touch of heartwarming humor, this delightful book will fill the bill. Shay is a "take no prisoners" straightforward gal with a difficult past, while Joah suffers from guilt for something that happened five years and another police department ago. Though Shay has a tendency to . . . bend the rules, and sometimes break the law, Joah recognizes and appreciates her innate goodness, big heart and loving nature. He just can't help himself when it comes to helping her out of one jam after another. He's running for sheriff, though, and her latest caper puts his dreams in jeopardy. He's a stickler for the law, and she's a stickler about animal rescue. Can the two find common ground? Read it and find out. Very entertaining.

This story grabbed me right from the start. It was so much fun to read. Doesn't mean I didn't want to shake the both of them a time or two.

The story kept me cheering Shay on for her efforts to succeed, even when she broke the law a time or two. Who could really blame her, she wanted these poor animals to find their forever home, something she never had, and craved more than anything. She had such a big heart, I just wanted to hug her.

Jonah was a man of the law that always went strickly by the book, until it came to Shay. He couldn't deny her big heart, and he knew she was only doing what she thought was right for her animals. He admired her for that and her drive to succeed at all cost, but he also had his limits.

The big question here is....will these two be able to set their differences aside? Or at least come up with a compromise, in order to make a relationship work out between them?

Guess you'll just have to read it to find out.

I'm thinking I may just love the Heroes of St. Helena even more than St. Helena Vineyard. Jonah was an awesome hero, impossible not to adore for his straight-laced commitment to the law. Shay was a lovable mess, impossible not to admire for her passion and conviction for rescuing animals. Together they were playful opposites who clashed and fit well all at once. Their chemistry was incredible, their story was easy to fall into and the book was impossible to put down. I read the whole thing in a day and now I'm sorry I did because I'll have to wait forever for the next book. I saw that Dax and Emerson will have their story out in October and then I'm hoping for Adam and Harper for the one after that which will be out in Spring of 2016. Both are much too far away.

One note to fans of the former series, outside of a very small part for Frankie, the characters from St. Helena Vineyard were not in this one. In fact, it probably wouldn't even be necessary to read the former series to enjoy this one.

It’s a sweet story filled with zany friends, really cute animals, townspeople that know everyone, wine country, relatives, and rescues! My four rescued dogs each gave it a paw up! Already ordered the next one in the series. This is definitely an author that I will continue to follow!

This is the first book in Marinas collection I've ever red, and I have to say I really liked it, so much so I red it in 3 days! I am a dog groomer myself and 2 years single after a 13 year relationship, so there was everything in it I could almost relate too. I liked the ease in which the book was written and how the characters developed including all the events & animals mentioned. I certainly would like to read more about Shay & Jonah's adventures together, but if there is no sequel I'd still be happy that i had red it.
