Finally, my ONLY gripe (& the ONLY reason for 4 stars instead of 5) is that the included batteries are hit & miss... In short, 1 of my 2 included batteries started saying "0%" charged & "0" voltage when using my high-end dual charger, while the other reads as it should... That battery seems to charge up/work as I tried it on its own & it worked... But I really don't trust it...Read more ›
Now, this thing is not built for punishment. If you're looking for something to take with you on a wilderness adventure or for really nasty field work of some kind, this may not be the battery grip for you. However, if you are using it like me for commercial clients and portraits, it is an unbeatable value.
It fits perfectly with the T3i. It provides you with the ability to change your aperture, shutter speed, and other manual controls with integrated buttons that work perfectly well. The batteries do drain fairly quickly, but add them to your stock battery (that you can use individually) and you will not run out of juice on even a big shooting day. If you are worried about it, the grip also comes with a carriage housing for AA batteries.
The bottom line here is that you get much more than what you pay for with this thing. That's why I give it five stars. If you think you're going to be getting something insanely sturdy for this price, you're out of your mind. However, it does provide an excellent level of functionality for a price you really can't beat.
This unit came with two LP-E8 Canon compatible batteries, two brackets and a wired shutter release. Can't beat this value.
It was easy to install and having 2 batteries is wonder. I like the option that if you get into a jam, you can just put in regular batteries.
