PROS:
The nice thing about this is the mount. I can very quickly and easily change back and forth from a softbox to an umbrella. You could always use 2 completely separate mounts to switch between umbrella and softbox, but this is a nice 1-mount solution. If I have the softbox on, I can just slide the ring out (and even leave the softbox on the ring) then just throw on an umbrella. I just have to slide the flash back a tad on the slider. If I want to throw the softbox back on, then it is already attached to the ring and I just have to fold up the umbrella and slide on the softbox, then slide the flash back forward. The only drawback to this is that the metal is kind of rough and does not slide as smoothly as I would want it to. It would have been much better if it has some sort of coating on it.
Also, the swivel mechanism holds very secure. I have a name brand umbrella holder that cost $24 and it "creeps" (slowly points downward) with my umbrella on even with it tightened as tight as I can get it. I can use a 45 inch umbrella with this mount and it stays very secure.
Also, the nice thing about this softbox is you can use the flash in remote mode and trigger it with your on-camera flash because the body of the flash is exposed outside of the softbox. You don't need a pocket wizard.
The softbox itself is nice. Nothing to complain about and does exactly what it's supposed to do. The material feels nice. I don't have any other softboxes to compare it to, but it definitely doesn't feel cheap like I kind of expected it to be.
CONS:
Like I mentioned earlier... although it is very solid, the metal is kind of "rough" feeling and is not very smooth when sliding around the flash and softbox ring. The metal is very sold and secure, it needs some sort of coating. It kind of feels "unfinished".
There is very slight (and I mean VERY slight) "wriggle" room on the softbox ring when it's attached. Doesn't seem to affect anything, other than you can wriggle it very very slightly if you actually push back and forth on it.
Inconsistent design. According to the reviews, it seems like some people are getting slightly different variations of this. So please beware because a feature I have mentioned in this review may not apply to yours.
CONCLUSION:
Overall, I am very pleased with this, especially for the price. This is literally a steal at this price. Only a couple things that would make this better. It needs some sort of coating added to make the finish a bit more smooth, and a little bit tighter fit on the softbox ring to get rid of any wriggle.
If you are on a budget and want to try off-camera flash, get this softbox for tight shots/headshots, a decent sized shoot-through umbrella for wider shots and a nice lightstand (don't go cheap here, buy a quality lightstand. It will make your life much easier) and you can have very nice, very inexpensive studio quality lighting.
For the price, there is absolutely nothing wrong with this softbox and it worth every penny, but just for convenience purposes, I will probably end up getting a new mount eventually just to have something with a coating that feels a bit more finished/polished. I will definitely be keeping the actual softbox though. No reason to replace that unless it actually gets damaged.
The good:
1. Build quality is beyond expectations from this product. Nice powder finish. Screws - no rivets - throughout, so it isn't likely that the bracket would fall apart and couldn't be fixed. The plastic knobs are solid and the rubberized ring will not scratch the fabric.
2. No ball-joint that no one except Lastolite seems to get right, so the bracket will not collapse.
3. Folds into a very compact size.
4. No flashy logo of the manufacturer (also known for making kinky adult toys) and tight build combine to produce a simple "professional" look, if this is important to you.
The not-so-good:
1. It looks like some of the reviewers have received copies with internal diffusion baffles. Mine didn't and a quick review of the Amazon spec confirms that this softbox is not advertised as being supplied with an internal baffle. So don't expect one.
Response to some of the critique:
1. You have a problem with the tight frame jumping out the case? Frame too tight to collapse it? Photography isn't only about pressing the shutter button, didn't you know? If this softbox makes your life unbearable, how do you deal with holding big and heavy cameras, moving unwieldy lighting gear? Hit the gym.
2. No manual? This thing is so basic, why do you need a manual? If you can't figure out how to use a softbox by yourself and didn't already read a ton of online (written and YouTube) tutorials, perhaps you are not ready to spend money on a softbox.
Conclusion:
1. Before making a big deal out of the missing internal baffle and running to spend x5 as much on the Lastolite or 3x as much on the Cheetahstand models, remember that we are talking about a square piece of fabric here - one you can buy in a fabric store for a dime. Add to this a 1/2 hour DIY finishing project and you got yourself a soft box whose performance (at least in the short-run) will match that of its much more expensive siblings. Why would the manufacturer not include an inky-dinky baffle beats me, but for the price this product offers a great platform, which with a little add-on, would leave very little if anything to complain about. I really can spend that $100-150 on something useful.
2. Is this item suitable for professional use ("professional" as in "your dinner depends on its performance")? The answer is mixed. From a build perspective it seems like it could withstand some abuse and it's not likely that a Lastolite Eazybox would last (excuse the pun) 5 times as long. On the other hand, professional users don't have the time to fiddle with DYI upgrades and need bulletproof reliability - for them this item may not be an option. Is this item suitable for enthusiast use? If money matters to you, absolutely. Can only recommend it.

The softbox is well constructed, sewing is good and strong and folds into a very small package. Be careful when you unfold it as a tight hold is required, it opens with some force and if not held firmly will launch across the room and could cause costly damage. My version had both internal and external diffusers, the inner hooks onto elasticated eyes, bit tricky the first time you try to connect it, but with practice I have worked out how to do this effectively, The outer diffuser velcros in place, and you can also attach grids etc to this, again using velcro. To learn how to fold it search "fold softbox" on YouTube.
The L bracket supplied is OK, there are careful adjustments needed to align the flash head. The main issue I have is the limited down angle you can achieve, although it has a ball head the ring rail hits the light stand, the only way to fix this is to cut to shorten the rail length, but then I thought if I change flash in the future would this be long enough to centre the flash into the softbox. The solution I decided on was to purchase a godox s type speedlite bracket, problem solved. You could also buy a tilt head.
But at this price if you are looking to move into flash photography, you are on a budget and don't need to have a great downward tilt then this is highly recommended. It provides a lovely soft light and shadows that are perfect for my needs. I don't own the version made by a well known company in this field but I would be very suprised if it really is worth the x5 asking price.
Ansonsten Top!
The softbox comes in a small bag and is compressed into a small circular shape which pops out and opens up to a flat triangle which you can easily open out into the full softbox. Once this is done, the product stays firmly in shape and appears to be quite strong. There is a white internal baffle provided which can be fitted via provided eyelets to four small material loops already fitted to the four corners of the softbox. The white front sheet fits on with pre-fitted Velcro on all four sides and takes only a few seconds. There is a black storage bag for the attachments (and possibly softbox but see comments below).
It produces a nice quality soft light, which is what I wanted.
My only criticism is one that I would also make for all similar products, probably even the much more expensive overpriced ones. These items are always shown being easily folded back into their very small squashed up shape and into a small round bag, which will no doubt burst from the pressure. They never come with specific instructions and if you feel all around the internal spines to find where you can bend them, it feels like solid metal or plastic. When pushing inwards, bending or twisting in any direction there seems to be great resistance and you feel reluctant to apply any further force. My first experience with a reflector (not this brand) resulted in it snapping in two.
Fortunately, this one is quite small enough to carry or store when in its' flat state so I will leave like this and not risk breaking it. Manufacturers should provide instructions on how to do this and assure us that it will never just snap
