A no joke for real camera lens filter remover. It is strong and mighty! Use caution.
I was initially impressed by the jig design and then by its weight. I is a very strong tool. Use it diligently, you don't want to break you lens glass. My 72mm UV filter glass had dropped out of its circular frame leaving the glass free floating on top of my lens glass. The thin filter frame was simply too thin to remove. I broke the loose glass to remove it and attempted removing the filter like an armature creating damage and no removal. I quit trying and left my original lens glass exposed and vulnerable to damage, etc. I prefer safe guarding all my good lenses with filters.Much later, I ran into this tool when I was researching lens disassembly repair for older vintage lenses and decided to try it. Wow, I it was amazing and the filter frame unscrewed with the tool and maintained its original circumference of the frame. I was done in under 10 minutes.When you review the images, note the scratches on the tool from the roughed up edges of the damaged filter frame.

In addition, my unit arrived with the parts rattling loose due to poor assembly. Guide rods were not fully screwed into the fixed jaw, and setscrews fixing the rod ends into the nut plate were both loose. The assembler apparently put red thread locking compound on anyway, _on_top_ of the screws (rather than in the threads themselves). The parts seem well enough made, but assembly and QA are deficient.
If they would correct the thread pitch of the jaws (a trivial machine tool adjustment) and spend a few seconds more on proper assembly, it could be a great product. As furnished, it will cause additional damage to your lens that will be even harder to repair. I cannot recommend it.
Major design flaw, shoddy assembly. Not recommended.

This tool is for repair of dented or out-of-round lens filter thread mounts. These all have a standard universal thread pitch of 0.75mm (for sizes within the tool's range). However the tool's jaws are furnished with 1.0mm pitch, not 0.75mm. As a result, the jaws do not mesh properly with threads being repaired, and in fact caused additional damage to the lens.Reviewed in the United States on March 14, 2020
