Also, really crumple it up when you take it down ... don't fold it but shove it into a small ziplock bag and the irregular wrinkles won't show!
But if you need it to be smooth, just bring a small spray bottle with you so you can spritz it with mostly water (and maybe a drop of dish soap) which will relax it and dry in seconds, leaving you a wrinkle free background (this is an old photographer's trick!).
When I was 18, I worked at a photo studio, and my boss had the very expensive vinyl backdrop, and I had to hand-bleach and mop that thing every single day, because clients had been walking all over it, and we wanted to keep it spotlessly white. My boss would always say "I spent hundreds of dollars on this backdrop", and while it sounded like an exaggeration at the time, he was probably right, but the quality showed in the photos.
Instead of painstakingly mopping it, you can just take this backdrop down and put it in the washing machine, and it's cheap and easy to set up if you're new to photography.
When you first hang this, it's going to be floppy. In order to get it flat, you need to buy clamps to keep it taught. I also bought a hand-held steamer specifically to make sure I can keep the background as flat as possible, because that's the only way you can make sure fabric flattens out (starch works too.) But no matter how much I tried, there was still always a little bit of a wrinkle. (See attached photo for the example from my eBay store. You can see the wrinkle off to the right.)
If I had issues with this, why am I giving it a 5-star? It's because you get what you pay for. From my experience as a professional photographer, I would never expect this backdrop to be any better for only $12.
The only reason why I bought this in the first place was because I was renting a temporary studio space that had wood paneling on the walls, and an ugly blue carpet. I needed the cheapest option possible, because I knew I was only using it for a few months before moving on to somewhere better. If you're just starting out as a photographer, you might be in the same boat, and it's more than OK to use cheap stuff in the beginning before you graduate to expensive tools.
For instance, you can use it for Valentines day by just hanging heart strings on the background, making it the perfect backdrop for a photo wall for Galentines Day or a Valentines Day party.
You can do the same for St Patricks Day, as well as Christmas, Spring, Easter, Fall, Halloween, Birthday parties, Weddings, Anniversary Parties, Surprise parties, New Years Eve, Summer fun backdrops, and a bunch of other cool themed parties.
