Do yourself a favor and skip on purchasing Neewer's 48V Phantom Power Supply and skip straight to an audio interface. The boost in quality is well worth it. I'm using Behringer's UM2 U-Uphoria (Currently $30 I payed $53 for it two years ago :P.) and it's been great! Add a pop filter or a windscreen to reduce, well, popping and heavy breathing from annoying others. The mic sounds great but lacks bass. If you're recording videos be sure to bump up the bass a tad bit in Audio Tool. Also, you can see that I've swapped XLR cables. The 90° cable made a big improvement on aesthetics in my opinion but I switched it for good reason! As I'd move my hand from my mouse to my keyboard to type I'd always hit the d@mn cable. Now, it's no longer in the way.

Big clear sound at affordable price!!

Excellent condenser mic. We use it mounted to a boom mic stand for our choir. Great clarity and wide pattern. We previously tried recording the choir with one of our excellent Shure SM58s but it was very directional and result was a recording of mostly one choir members voice. This got all of them and now I’m buying a sevond one. Our mixer does allow us to turn on 48v phantom power so that’s important. But it’s terrific. Want to see more products from this brand (Neewer).

Update: I made one mistake that my contractor resolved: condenser mics have a front “listening” side, and a back “non-listening side. Be certain to expose the listening side to your source of vocal sound. Turns out that the ”listening” sidebof this much is the one with the printed name on it. So, we mounted the mic vertically (as in third pic below) this time enduring the printed label faced the people who were singing. Duh, I guess, but now I know!

Also, did buy a second one. Both connected on separate channels on our mixer. Turns out that when the choir was finished with their singing, a tidy person lifted both mics and put them in a corner together 1 foot apart. Guess What!! Major Feedback!! Tell your helpfulntudy choir folks not to touch the merchandise, or, at least have them signal to you to MUTE those channels. I’ll take the wrap.

For the extreme low price of this microphone I absolutely love it however I recommend anyone trying to use this for live calling/voice chatting to use adobe audition or a similar product to actively remove background noise if you are not in a quiet area. If you can not afford one of the more expensive microphones on the market this is a must-have for sure I am outstanded by the sound quality of this cheap microphone definitely worth the investment.

I have had other Mics, this one takes the cake. It records just as good if not better as the $300.00 mic that we used to use in my first studio. I use it for singing, recording a radio show, recording hip hop/rap it has a high tolerance even when recording a group I don't have to worry about it peaking much. I enjoy this mic it was a great investment. If you need a great mic at a good price this is what you need.

Bought for my 15 yo daughter's first solo gig, using live through a Yamaha portable PA (via small Soundcraft mixer for 48v phantom power and better EQ). Sounds much better than dynamics for the classical and jazz numbers (though she will probably use AKG D770 handheld for convenience when she needs to move around). Feedback rejection is much better than I expected for a hyper-cardioid (rear lobe definitely present but small enough not to be an issue). Noise floor is also plenty good enough for live sound, or recording of all but quietest of sources. Would definitely recommend using phantom power for best s/n ratio. For fifteen quid including a decent enough shock mount and cable (not used), it's an absolute gem. No regrets whatsoever. P.S. - A tip for anyone encountering difficulty removing mic from shockmount, as mentioned in another review: squeezing the two spring-loaded tabs on the mount will allow the mic to slip out with zero effort.

A great sounding mic, however I have to point out that you will need a 48-volt phantom power supply to use the microphone since it is a condenser mic. Though I just recommend getting the £30 kit since it's a similar price to the mic and power supply but also comes with a boomarm, I only recommend this specific version if you have a PSU and some mounting option.

Chiarisco che sono un tecnico del settore, sono un progettista fisico acustico e ho un laboratorio fortemente attrezzato per misure e collaudi in acustica ed elettroacustica. Stimolato da conoscenti e altri musiciti user di questi prodotti ne ho comprati un bel po per sottoporli a test di laboratorio e anche test empirici in svariate situazioni studio-live. La qualità è tipica della tipologia: Microfono Electret, cioè con capsula a cristallo dielettrico. Il preamplificatore interno fa bene il suo lavoro restituendo una buona gamma dinamica e spettrometrica anche se piuttosto tormentata in zona 150-300 Hz. Ottimo per strumenti a fiato, ma anche per percussioni. Per tipologia è molto robusto non ha la delicatezza tipica dei microfoni a condensatore, una eventuale ammaccatura della griglia esterna non genera variazioni in capacità. Mi fanno sorridere i filmati di youtube dove si vorrebbe paragonare questo microfono ad un Neumman U87 o peggio ad un VR12 AKG, ad orecchio poi... Questo microfono è tutt'altra cosa, ma assicuro che vale molto di più di quel che costa e fa bene il suo lavoro.

I took this mic apart to see exactly what you get for your money.
The capsule although it looks like a medium sized diaphragm capsule is actually a 50 pence
10mm capsule inside a better mic case. The microphone cable, although it says low noise
is the worse cable i HAVE EVER SEEN.. It is definitely not low noise, or is it professional.
My advise is to avoid it like the plague, the Chinese seem to lack any morals in the way they describe items.

First of all, it's good to note that this microphone requires phantom 48v power, although the original cable that was xlr to 3.5mm jack worked perfectly fine when I plugged it into my pc microphone port. But it tended to be quiet so I bought the additional phantom power and that improved the overall quality massively which meant my mouth didn't have to sit so close when using the mic. Of course for £20 it's not the best mic out there but it is really awesome for beginners like myself.I bought this mic for my YouTube channel you can check out the quality in some of my videos. As an upgrade for my nephew's YouTube channel, we have bought him a microphone stand and this microphone to replace the internal microphone on his laptop which stopped working.

It is extremely well made and looks much more expensive than it's £14.99 price tag would suggest. It comes with a really nice holder, but don't forget to squeeze the two triangular wings to slide the microphone in. There is also a holder for a stick microphone if you have one and a decent quality XLR to 3.5mm Jack cable.

If you're connecting this to a PC or Laptop, you will almost definitely need a 48v phantom power supply which is also available from Amazon. The sound quality isn't the best I've ever heard, but it is infinitely better than a webcam microphone and perfectly adequate for speech.

Great value mic - does need phantom power

This mic is so inexpensive it is suspicious... I bought it partly out of curiosity, in fact. It actually works really well; good sound with quite low noise. The supplied suspension rig is fine; the cable bundled with it is an xlr to mini jack, which suggests it can run into a PC sound card. This will not work with normal PCs or laptops; the mic needs 48v phantom power. I run mine into a Behringer mixer, which works perfectly. Neewer sell a suitable power supply for about £15.
If you're looking for a low priced condenser mic, look no further!

NOTE: This microphone requires a USB soundcard or phantom power, however a phantom power supply would be the better choice.

Also you, if you're using one, want a more sturdy scissor arm as it is quite heavy.

Pros:
It's Cheap
It doesn't sound bad with a £5 USB audio interface
The build is quite sturdy and microphone is heavy.
Comes with XLR cable + shockmount.

Cons:
Was scared I almost broke it as I needed to take it out the shock mount as I was moving stuff around the bottom part of the base came off. So don't expect to get the microphone off that shock mount without re-attaching portions of the base.
Although the cardiod pick-up is exceptional, it's not the best thing ever.

Overall I do recommend this microphone if you want to pair it up with a £20 ish Phantom Power supply because you will be able to get some pretty clean audio out of it.
