All the light I need for my home studio

A couple of things you should be aware of: Most of the lights I've encountered screw onto a 1/4"-20 screw thread, as you generally find on light or camera tripods and a lot of mounting gear. The Neewer 660-LED Studio Light does not. It's really too heavy for most tripods. Instead it mounts with a heavy-duty steel tube that's a part of the mounting frame. Ir looks to be ~5/8" (16mm) inner diameter and about an inch (25mm) long (see photo). It sits perfectly on a standard boom arm from a microphone stand and has a set screw to secure it in place. As it happens, I had a spare mic stand and it's perfect for the job.
Another thing, the light can plug into the wall with a supplied laptop-style AC cable and DC converter brick. That works great. However if you don't have an available outlet or can't reach it with the cord, The light is also equipped with two NP-F550 battery sockets. These rechargeable batteries are commonly used on a lot of cameras and accessories. I already had a pair and a charger. Unfortunately this light drains batteries pretty quick. With the light at ~3/4 power, two fully charged NP-F550s lasted about an hour, which is not quite enough for most of the things I do. I quickly bought two NP-F970 batteries which mount in the same sockets, but have 3 times the capacity of the F550's. Possibly more, I haven't managed to drain them. There's some intermediate sizes as well, but I just got the F970s and won't have to worry about what battery goes where. Also, they use the same charger as the F550. I recommend you get two chargers (they're pretty cheap), because it can take the better part of a day to charge one NP-F970. Unfortunately, the Neewer light doesn't charge the batteries from it's AC power source, so you have to take them out and plug them into chargers.
