    great price point for a good performance does need external power.

    great price point for a good performance does need external power.
    This is a good quality inexpensive microphone for its price. The stand and pop filters and sock are a good bargain. The stand is good overall, and it stays put easily. The shock mount holds the mic with out slipping and the handling noise it pretty minimal. Its a good overall mic, its not too bright, and seems to be clean when you power it. The Included XLR to Headphone jack cable is no good, not that it doesn't work, but you'll want a phantom power XLR jack for this. You can do this by either by supplying 48v phantom power with an inline phantom power adapter, or by using a USB interface which supplies it like in my case with the UM2. In my testing I found that it was just too quiet with say a USB sound card that supplied it with just 5 volts, it improved it but it didn't get anywhere near the UM2's clean input with a true phantom power supply. For me the UM2 is really clean and quiet with this and complements it nicely. The build quality is good, the condenser capsule housing the condenser is plastic, but the condenser itself is larger than you little cheep mic and it preforms pretty well. The metal body is solid and its not to heavy, its in the middle weight wise. The finish is good though, and the grill is pretty sturdy but I'd say it wouldn't be drop proof like some of the expensive ones. It would generally hold up very well though. Inside the PCB is good overall with a little hand soldering to the wire connectors they are wire to pad, so not though hole, and there is little flux and residue with clean component placement. Inside the grill there is some padding for it as well. Combined with the sock or the pop filter it seems to do a good job. Overall the build quality is excellent for the price, and it sounds nice. The price alone is good with out the Mic, I figured if I didn't like it I could upgrade it. Its done well for me with just some quick voice over work and for conferencing and gaming. Its not in Sure or AKG territory, but for the price you can't go wrong.

    As with most of these reviews, i REALLY recommend the cheap 48V phantom supply, or some other one.

    Mic itself:
    ==========================================
    Sound quality is very good. As accurate as it's going to get to capturing audio in this price range.
    One thing to keep in mind i didn't know is, keep the side that says "Neewer" toward you. The mic does work with both sides, but the side with lettering is the actual side to use.
    It feels well made with a metal housing and connector.
    The foam that goes over it does smell a little weird tho. So either let it air out, or do what i did and spray a little bit of febreeze on it then let it dry.

    The arm:
    ============================================================
    Decent enough quality, is a little shaky but works good. If your going to be rotating the arm at the base i'd recommend putting a dab of oil on the shaft just so it swings more smoothly.
    Most importantly, it stays where you put it, as long as you have everything adjusted.
    Which i should also mention, you made need pliers to get some parts as tight as you'd want. Such as the isolater/mic mount to the end of the arm. I found i had to really tighten it to keep it from unscrewing when rotating the mic.
    Other than that, i really can't complain for the money.
    I should also mention, your going to want some small zip ties to ziptye the cable to the arm. Be sure to leave a few inches of slack at the joints.

    Pop filter:
    ==============================================================
    Has been working great.
    It's done the job thats in it's name as well as filtering out any breathing noises.
    You can breath near it moderately and it won't get picked up which is really nice.

    Overall:
    So if your a youtuber on a budget or looking for a decent recording mic that won't break the budget this is definitely a project to really consider. I haven't recorded any music with it yet, but i'll be sure to update this review when i eventually do.
    Or if something breaks on it.

    I've been using the microphone for two days for singing and instrument recording (specifically an acoustic bass), to be so cheap is a great deal, very sensitive response, feels strong shaped and the arm and other accessories included are very good also.

    I only have two thinks to complain about, first is that Amazon page had mixed NW-700 and NW-800 on the same publication (which i think is now solved) so i was buying a NW-800 (which has a little better frequency range) and since the only difference i saw in the publication was the color, i finished buying the NW-700.

    Second is that the cable which comes with the package is almost useless if you plan to use this on a semi-professional environment. The cable is a stereo-to-XLR female which loses all the gain from the mic and the only real purpose i can see on it is to connect the mic to a normal PCI/Laptop sound card, and in that case the sound is terribly noisy and low.

    I had to buy then a XLR-to-XLR cable and using a Line6 UX2 interface with Phantom Power the sound is very good and clear.

    If you are buying this microphone with musical purposes and you can't spend too much, i highly recommend to buy it with a BEHRINGER U-PHORIA UM2 interface and the XLR-to-XLR cable, that gear is enough for a decent recording.

    ARM STAND: Okay Quality, Okay Usage
    First let me talk about the microphone arm stand. While it might not fit desks with frames close to the edge, the stand is relatively light, and should work fine. However, the weight is an important factor to consider when upgrading microphones. Higher quality microphones will cost more (obviously) and weigh more. Any extra weight will weigh down the swivel connection to the clamp on the desk. This will cause the entire stand to lean forward and dig into the desk as it swivels. I had to change to a sturdier desk clamp and stand after about 2 months of usage with a heavier microphone. The divot in the edge of my desk is still there from the bent mic stand arm. This will cost you more when upgrading, due to the lower quality of the stand.

    MICROPHONE: Okay Quality, Good Usage
    The microphone has okay quality. Good for the price. The only issue is that in order to get the best possible sound from it, you need an aux input with phantom power, in which, not every PC has. Which makes this microphone not quite recommended for beginners who record on laptops who don't have access, or don't have a phantom powered aux input. However, if you know you have a powered aux, and are not looking for a studio quality microphone, but decent quality to start out, this is good.

    POP FILTER: Low Quality, Good Usage
    The pop filter isn't exactly top tier, but it will stop plosives well. That's all you could really ask for. Quality of the stand for the pop filter is less than good. The base connection from the stand to the clamp easily wears out and can detach. It isn't too difficult to bend the pop stand to stay up even if the connection isn't solid. You could also glue it back if it will bother you, since the pop filter itself swivels on the stand giving you some freedom. Lastly, the quality of the clamp for the pop stand feels weak and is small, and seems like it wouldn't fit the mic stand it comes with. The foam cover for the microphone works well and is non-intrusive, unlike the pop filter.

    SHOCK MOUNT: Okay Quality, Good Usage
    The Shock Mount for the Microphone is decent quality, and worth it for the money. It does it's job and it better than some other shock mounts out there. Fit's the microphone perfectly.

    All in all, it's worth it. Just don't call yourself a voice actor for buying this.

    5.0 out of 5 stars Sehr gutes Mikrofon
    Reviewed in Germany on June 19, 2024
    Das Kondensatormikrofon war bei mir mehrere Jahre im Einsatz und hat seinen Job hervorragend erfüllt. Die Klangqualität ist vergleichbar mit Markenmikrofonen, was mich positiv überrascht hat. Ich habe das Mikrofon ohne ein Mischpult verwendet. Obwohl es etwas leise war, hat es dennoch sehr gut funktioniert. Es gab kein Rauschen und keine anderen Störgeräusche, was die Aufnahmequalität angenehm klar und sauber macht. Insgesamt bin ich sehr zufrieden mit diesem Mikrofon und kann es weiterempfehlen.

    5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best mics you can get for the price
    Reviewed in the United Kingdom on January 30, 2023
    The headline is no lie - I've been using one of these microphones for most of my time as a home producer and just bought a second and I can say, without a doubt, this is one of the best entry-level microphones on the market. In this review I'd like to outline the quality of the microphone itself, the set-up process for those who are unfamiliar with condenser mics, a few challenges with different use-cases, and a comparison of my two NW-700s and their respective bundle of stuff.

    To start with, the quality. The sound quality of this microphone is excellent for the price. Is it perfect? Not by any means, but condenser microphones offer incredible quality for less cost than dynamic microphones, and this model is no exception to that rule of thumb. As for build quality, the microphone is generally well built. It's not as heavy as you might expect after having worked with higher-quality condenser mics, but still well-built. As I mentioned in the introduction, I've had one of these for years now and it's never let me down with all I've thrown at it. As for the extras that you get, they're a wonderful bonus. The stand isn't of the highest quality, and it certainly won't be holding anything particularly heavy due to the relatively weak springs, but it's perfectly useable for the NW-700 it's bundled with. The wind filter is quite low-density, so it's not going to offer much in the way of protection against plosives or wind noise, but it's better than nothing. The pop filter does a better job at stopping plosives, and while it's not perfect it is a welcome addition nonetheless. The shock-mount is one of the weakest aspects of this product in both of my sets, but it holds the microphone well enough considering the price. This bundle also comes with an XLR (F) to 3.5mm audio jack (M), which I personally have little care for due to using a USB audio interface.

    Now onto the setup. This microphone is a condenser, and as such requires 48v Phantom Power. This can be supplied in a number of ways; the cheapest (and what I originally opted for) is to use a phantom power supply. Neewer offer their own model, as do many other brands; I originally used a Behringer Micropower PS400, though I would advise against buying from them for ethical reasons. This is limited in that it doesn't have any sort of gain control. An option which avoids this issue is an audio interface, some of which offer phantom power with the addition of gain control, reduced input latency, and real-time monitoring. This is what I currently use, and works very well for studio applications. Be aware though: not all audio interfaces support Phantom Power - be sure to check the spec sheet before buying! In both of these instances, an XLR cable will need to be purchased. This additional setup cost is the main downside to this microphone, making it unsuitable for most casual users who merely want a simple microphone to use for zoom calls - a USB microphone would likely be preferable for this use-case - but for people wanting to do studio recordings or podcasting, something like this would be ideal.

    Another side-effect of this microphone being a condenser is that it is very sensitive. This means it can be unsuitable for close-micing loud instruments, such as brass, woodwind, or drums. Despite this, I have been able to use this microphone for recording all of those instruments - it just takes a little more work to avoid clipping. For recording louder instruments including guitar amps, I would instead recommend a dynamic microphone (my current budget recommendation being the Pyle PDMIC78 at around £18). The NW-700, by nature of being a condenser, also has a sharp frequency roll-off with range, known as the proximity effect - the low-end is very present when up-close, and drops off significantly when moving more than 15cm (6") away, which can impact the sound quality of certain instruments. For vocal work, this microphone shines due to its clarity and the relatively low loudness of vocals.

    Finally, onto the comparison between my older and newer bundles. The microphones are practically identical - doing an A/B test on the same audio source shows very little difference in sound quality, implying that the quality control is reasonable and has not degraded since I bought my first one. The main differences appear in the bundled items, which have a number of improvements and also a number of drawbacks over their predecessors. The desk mount for the boom arm now has the screw on the bottom, which avoids it getting in the way of the arm's swivel (something which very much annoyed me about the older version). The boom arm itself seems largely unchanged, although it now has a 3/8"-16 thread rather than the 5/8"-27 thread. An adaptor between the two thread sizes is included screwed into the shock mount. Speaking of which, the shock mount's elastic is much less stiff than the older version, which leads to more instability but (I would imagine) less vibrations when knocking the stand, desk, or microphone. I find the new shock mount's angle screw to have a much tighter grip than the original, preventing it from dropping down at random while recording. The wind shields are practically identical, but the newer pop filter seems to have significantly better articulation of the bendy bit, despite feeling cheaper in build quality than the older version. The included cable is just as cheap and nasty as I remember it being, but for most use cases this won't be needed anyway. Overall, I think the new bundle offers slightly lower build quality but with quality of life improvements to the stand that, in my opinion, make up for it.

    So, to summarise: this microphone is great for the price, especially for vocals, but requires additional setup costs due to requiring phantom power which may make a USB microphone more desirable for non-studio use-cases, for example Zoom calls. For instruments, I would recommend the Pyle PDMIC78 instead due to its lower sensitivity, but the NW-700 is a good all-round mic that has served me well over the years. I will be buying more to record a podcast with later in the year.

    La calidad del boom y el micrófono es aceptable POR EL PRECIO.
    Es una muy buena calidad por lo que estas pagando, pero pronto querrás subir de nivel, aunque para iniciar en el mundo del audio es más que suficiente.
    Hay que tener en cuenta que el sonido del micrófono es un poco metálico, pero aún así es bueno.
    Simplemente no se le puede bajar ni una estrella por lo que se está pagando.

    Después de un año: Los tornillos tanto del boom como del pop filter se aflojaron fácilmente con el uso (si los mueves seguido, como yo) y las gomas/almohadillas se aplastaron totalmente al punto de ser inservibles.
    El micrófono sigue impecable

    5.0 out of 5 stars Superb microphone! Beats the yeti and blue ice
    Reviewed in Canada on January 14, 2017
    Amazing microphone for the price! it took me a little while to figure it out and set it up properly but once done there is zero hissing, zero background noise and records in beautiful crisp sound! I used the snowball ice and the blue yeti before this mic and i returned both of them and kept this one as it beat all of them in terms of sound and quality. Plus i love the boom arm as it gives me the option to move the mic out of the way with it still looking nice on the table. Only thing to keep in mind you WILL need a phantom power to power this mic to get best sound i used the behringer phantom power supply. And with that you will need an XLR male to XLR Female cable as well.

    I use my microphone for voiceovers in youtube videos. After recording even though sound is good i edit it in audacity. I remove breaths, compress audio and normalize it. Check my channel JL Unboxed if you want to hear the quality of the microphone.
