Works great even on thin lense rings.
I needed a spanner wrench to clean the internal lenses on a rifle scope and this worked great.

I bought this wrench to do repairs on old cameras and lenses. I've used it twice and so far it works very well. I did have to make one adjustment: The thumb knobs are too large to allow the arms to get close enough to where I needed them. I used the smaller hex-bolts on one arm tight and left the thumb screws on the other allowing that one to be the adjustable side. The thumb nobs are a little on the smooth side and its hard to get them tight enough that they don't loosen during use. Overall, if you're a hobbyist looking to apply some TLC to your gear, this will work just fine.

This lens filter ring removal wrench performed well at the tasks it is designed to do. It allowed me to quickly and confidently disassemble a variety of old lenses and filters ranging in diameter from 28mm to 72mm. I now have a large collection of interesting optical objects that I will use in stained glass panels. Nothing like having the precise tool for an obscure job. This little wrench is a bit flimsy but it is also about one half the cost of the versions a professional camera repair person would use. Adequate performer and a good value. There are literally dozens of these devices on the market and many seem to be made in the same factory but stamped with different names.

This is a great tool for repairing old cameras. Without this tool I had a hard time removing the lens elements from an old Canonet 28 but this spanner wrench made it super simple.

It comes with four hand-adjustable screws to hold the pieces at any desired length, as well as 4 tool adjustable ones that can be tightened even more with the included hex key. This tool can also be configured in several ways.

The two halves can be arranged to not only curve outward, but also to curve inward. This was especially useful since it allowed the tool to fit into the lens without scraping the sides, and is ultimately the reason why I chose this curved model over the straight one.

The tool is all metal and very sturdy. The hand-adjustable screws are enough to hold it together rock solid at the desired width.

When a lot of pressure/torque is required to unscrew a ring on the lens, I found that it was best to wear thick work gloves. Otherwise the tool's edges would dig into my hand, making it uncomfortable to use.

Overall this is a great tool at a great price and I am very satisfied. I wouldn't be able to repair old cameras without it.

It works adequately for swapping a 2" multi-narrowband filter that needs to be in an adapter ring deep inside of a field flattener, but please make sure to tighten the crossbar screws to avoid accidents - I had situations when the tips started sliding. That said, overall, it served my needs very well.
Reviewed in the United States on April 9, 2019
I've used several different lens spanners over the years, and for cheap spanners, these do seem to be much better quality than others in their price range, especially the ubiquitous gray steel ones sold by Micro-Tools and others.

The main issue I have with these is that the four tightening knobs come off very easily, meaning the thing is constantly falling apart. Half the time I pull it out of my toolbox, having been put away tightened, half of it gets left behind due to loose knobs. This can also be a real pain if they come loose while you are actually trying to change a retaining ring. You really have to make sure all four are really cinched down before attempting to use them lest you risk tragedy with your delicate lenses.

Overall, I'd say these are good for occasional work, but if you are regularly going to be servicing your lenses, invest in something a little sturdier.

Needied a good spanner for disassembly of an older Minolta zoom lens that needed cleaning. This spanner worked well, but recommend using the Allen set screws as the knurled set screws can't be tightened enough to keep setting in place. Worked great and am now able to use the lens with an adapter on my Sony DSLR.

I wish the closed down closer to 0mm.
They don’t get totally locked down either and can open/loosen up.
I bought them for working on and old Nikon SLR, and will probably have to buy a pair that goes down to zero.
They’re heavy and not cheap.
I have not cracked open a lens with them yet, but suspect they will do that job fine.
I think the if I tweak them a little, I can get them to lock down solid.

This spanner is very well made with a precise fit to all components. The curved tips are very useful as you can just reverse them to get into very narrow areas (like when pulling a spanner screw), or leave them "wide" to span a very large ring. The metal is well finished and all the joints fit precisely. The supplied locking screws hold the spanner securely no matter how large or small the fastener. Don't let the low price fool you! Complete with blade tips on one side (with handy cutouts) and pointed tips on the other, this spanner is flexible, precise, and an outstanding value.

I would recommend this tool to anyone needing a versatile spanner at a great price.
