By using the rotating bracket, the flash is slightly off center, which also adds a little more dimension to a face in portrait photography.

It has a comfortable foam grip and a tripod mountable base.

It allows the user to shoot and advance film as if no bracket were attached.

Lightweight and compact, constructed entirely of sturdy aluminum and ergonomically designed for comfort, speed and durability.

3.0 out of 5 stars Easy modification for Right Handed Photographer
By C Keith on June 21, 2019
As the bracket comes out of the box, I noted several minor but annoying issues. (1) the plastic wing knob on the retaining bolt for the camera came off easily; (2) In landscape mode, the movable bracket can sit above the camera but when turning counterclockwise for portrait mode, the flash holder is upside down; (3) my D-810 and D-500 would slip on the "anti-slip pad and allow the cameras to rotate easily.....very difficult to manage. However, I fixed everything with the following actions. (1) took a file and filed the threaded end of the bolt to effectively shorten it. It doesn't take a lot but if you can shorten it about 1/2 thread depth, there will be ample clearance so that you can really tighten the camera to the bracket - no slipping afterwards. (2) I superglued the plastic knob to the bolt (after the shortening process) (3) I unscrewed the flash mount and placed it on the underside of the bracket arm. When the bracket is in a Z shape (with the foam handle to the left) the flash will sit straight up and there is much less stress on the flash mount. This is perfect for landscape mode. When moving to portrait mode, rotate the whole bracket and camera to the left (counterclockwise) and swivel the flash pracket 90 degrees. The flash will remain verticle and the camera controls will be on top. Not sure how long the anti-slip pad will last but it is easily replaceable. The camera mounting bolt is steel so it is strong (some other similar brackets use an aluminum bolt.....not so good) Would love to see Neewer put an Arca-Swiss mounting plate which would allow photographers to quickly go from tripod to this bracket....and it wouldn't be a lot of weight or a lot of cost either.

5.0 out of 5 stars it fits everything comfortably and with good location
By CvilleRuss on June 28, 2018
My Custom Brackets Folding T finally crapped out so I went shopping. Came across this and read the reviews. I figured for $15 it was worth a shot (the Custom Brackets Folding T is $80). Turns out I really dig this bracket. I’m using it with a D810 and 28-300 Nikkor, and powering a SB910 with a Yongnuo TTL trigger system (see photo).

With the bracket fully height-extended, it fits everything comfortably and with good location. The CBFT provided a slightly higher flash mount but that’s really no big deal.

The bracket feels fairly solid and the foam padding is useable even though with the D810 mounted it really is just extended padding for the camera itself. I would comment on the weight, but the gear I have mounted to it weighs so much I really don’t think about it. I’m just happy everything feels secure when mounted to it.

This bracket was certainly designed for smaller DSLRs but it’s working really well for me. I would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting to save a little cash when looking for a new bracket.

4.0 out of 5 stars So close to a 5 star product but fell short due to mismatch pic, mushy grip, and flimsy hardware...
By Eddie on May 13, 2016
First off I am not a professional or amateur photographer so know that reading this review.

I purchased this for a GoPro Hero 4 Black to film some short guest videos for an upcoming wedding. I used the GoPro mount to place this on the bottom of the Grip and it fit perfect, absolutely no problems there. I like that you have different options to place the GoPro and plan to move it closer to my hand to allow for either a quick release mounting plate or an adapter to mount to a mic stand. I was not happy about the picture on the site though. It shows the bolt at the bottom as having a screw hole so that you can mount onto something but what I received was a plastic wingnut. Seems fine but I will be getting better hardware to replace this soon.

I am using that with a SGC-598 Photography Interview Shotgun MIC Microphone. The microphone hot shoe is not held tightly by the adapter that this came with. I'm glad I tested before hand because the mic fell right off. I removed that and removed the hot shoe adapter from the mic and used that screw to hold the mic onto the grip. I also used a small washer I had in my toolbox to secure the hold as the screw head is smaller in diameter than the hole. I plan to find better hardware too at Lowe's or Home Depot.

The grip is somewhat comfortable but doesn't really have much padding so I can see that getting worn out quick. The frame itself does feel real sturdy and I love how the top of the "C" flips around to create an "L" for storage. Very nice! Weight seems fine although I'll probably be adding some to keep it steady.

Delivery was crazy fast!! I gotta give them props on that!

Overall, not bad for the price but mounting hardware could be better and I wouldn't mind the hardware in the pictures matching what I get, but I know that's the gamble when you purchase a lower priced item. I may use this for personal use after the wedding for car videos and home movies. I plan on perhaps adding a 2nd bracket to it to add a LED/flash in the future. Had the hardware worked and the grip a little better, this would be 5 stars easy!
