Bob offers us a voice of reason and compassion in a time of crisis. He offers us real solutions and perhaps a different way to think about the problem. But most of all he lets us know that we aren't alone. We aren't the only people who have been targeted for warfare by a sick neighbor, we aren't the only ones who have been ignored by law enforcement, we aren't the only ones who have been told that mediation should have cured the problem. We aren't crazy.
Thank you Bob, keep up the fine work.
The author's use of earthy phrases kept me entertained throughout the read. The most hilarious ones were set up as, "... unless one of them moves away or is [insert a spectacular, public method of getting killed]. Feed the fantasy! Everyone needs the uplift of humor during the seemingly endless darkness. The book is liberally sprinkled with anecdotes of antisocial behaviors and some real life methods of overcoming - or retraining! - the perps.
The flow of thought was interrupted by an apparent omission on page 112, first paragraph under #8. The phrase, "get a good night's sleep," was missing after the words "physical activity." Further reflection led me to believe the missing phrase was deliberate. Who can sleep in such circumstances?
The hardest parts to swallow, however, were regarding diplomacy on my part. Remaking my internal self, even on the basic level outlined, is where the real battle is. I tried the personal, diplomatic approach four years ago (before this book), before engaging the city, then the courts. Yet changing my inner self did not change the facts; the NsFH still exist and merely moved on to another illegal business; city officials still ignore; police still protect the scofflaws; courts and lawyers still soak up money and time, and exhaust patience.

In a nutshell bob takes you through options you have as a nfh victim, testimonies of other nfh victims, his own testimonies, and how to solve these conflicts. The book does go into much detail for those who need specific instructions. When it comes down to it though I feel he says in the end, you have to move, sue them, or go through the options that he writes about that may help solve a problem and bring peace or at least bring you back to a life of contentment (#1 step was to talk calmly to the neighbor FACE TO FACE first). I do however wish the conclusion was as detailed as the entire book and was left craving for more answers and/or even a sequel. i have a deep respect and admiration for Bob and what he does and has been through. I feel as though he is truly trying to handle things maturely as an adult and within the confines of the law. Please read this book if you are in any stage of battle between neighbors. It is full of options that may work for you in your struggle and prevent you from making mistakes that may cost you major to minor mistakes.Read more ›
