Thank you for reading.
Thats all well and great if your oil wrench is the proper sise for the filter you are trying to remove cause if its not, your out of luck there buddy. I have one of those big rig style oil wrenches and its too big to fit onto 2 inch oil filters and because of that lever, you can't get them up into tight spaces to work them.
So I went looking for an oil filter wrench which would work great for small filters, hence, small engine work. Thats when I found the 3-Jaw universal wrench being sold at Amazon.com. I was a bit worried when I bought this because I saw how small it was in the Amazon image, thought it might not be strong enough.
Oh how I was wrong, first thing I noticed when I took it out of the box was how heavy it was, deffinetly meant for the most tightest of filters. There was a guy at Amazon who said that he went to a hardware outlet to purchase a adaptor because he did not have a 1/2 drive rachet. Oh how I feel bad for him, he waisted his time, essentally he bought an adaptor to adapt from the adaptor.
Hence it came with an adaptor and so if he just pulled the adaptor out, he would have noticed it has a built in 3/8 drive for rachets as well. Oops :(
The jaw is fully adjustable from 2 and 1/2 inches all the way up to 4 inches so thats why its universal. All you have to do is put the jaws onto an oil filter, attach your rachet/socket wrench and begin loosening the filter.Read more ›
Recently the time came for my first do-it-myself oil change on my new car. The filter was hard to reach, and I knew it was going to be tough to loosen. This wrench looked good, and I decided to give it a try.
I'm completely satisfied. This wrench grabbed the filter without slipping. My only problem was applying enough strength to get the filter loose. How do mechanics get them on so tightly?
The wrench scratched the filter's paint where the tool's edges dug in, but I'm 100% indifferent to that - it just demonstrated how much grip this wrench can apply.
The range of filter sizes the wrench fits is immense - I think it'll be right for any car or pickup truck on the planet.
Oil filter wrenches are not exciting, generally, but having effective tools gives a person a good feeling, and this wrench is effective.
Short Description: Attaches to a normal wrench and is placed around the oil filter in order o remove it.

Pros & Cons
Pros: The tool looks sturdy, only used it once and didn't have any issues. I used this to change the oil on a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Turbo 2.0 Sport. Some say the tool broke on them but the filter should not be that hard to remove since it should be installed by hand. I have not had any issues, everything looks strong and sturdy enough to remove any filter, maybe if dropped from a substantial height it might end up damaging it like anything else.
Cons: none so far.
