    The largest drill bit in my set is one-half inch. I purchased this set specifically to enlarge holes that were drilled with a bit from that set. So far, I have used them on three-quarter inch and one inch thick hardwood. These tapered bits worked quickly and left clean holes without splintering wood. Note: By pre-drilling with a smaller bit, I found that there was no splintering on the other side. I give this set my highest recommendation.
