Another added benefit is that my RGP contact lenses are now more comfortable than ever! I did not realize dirty sinuses are causing my eyes to feel scratchy and dry. When I use the neti pot, I could feel my tear ducts being cleaned out too. My eyes now look clearer and brighter.
When I first bought this neti pot, I was pissed off that I paid umpteen dollars for a piece of cheap plastic. Later I was glad I bought it because I travel often so it's very lightweight and doesn't take up a lot of space. It's easy to clean and hard to break. The ceramic version would be inconvenient for me. I wish however, it would be clear plastic instead of opaque blue, so it would be easier for me to see the amount of saline left for each side of my nose. Another benefit is the screw-on lid which eliminates the need to cover the opening with the palm of your hand.
The generous 50 packets of saline mix it comes with is very gentle for first time users. It does not sting like the homemade solution I made with 100% natural sea salt. But the stinging eventually goes away once you get used to it. I made the mistake of using too much water in ratio to salt. This caused the solution to lodge into one of my sinuses, causing a minor infection.
** Make sure you don't fill water all the way to the top. There are barely-there markings on the neti pot which says 240 mL which should be filled according to instructions.Read more ›
The packets that came with it seem fine, but I'll probably just mix my own salt in after I run out. Would definitely order this one again in the future!
Also, for those of you who can't decide whether you will be able to do this, will like it, etc. I thought $12 wasn't a bad trial rate, especially since NeilMed has a satisfaction guarantee for 90 days. And, I think you'll be surprised at how pleasant it feels when you get the water temp right!
I unfortunately have frequent sinus problems. Usually I just get sinus headaches and some minor congestion, and occasionally a sinus infection. With that said, a few weeks ago I developed a pretty strong cold. I doubled up on the vitamin c, the zinc, took in lots of fluids and tried to rest. It went away within about a week, but it brought on a TERRIBLE sinus infection. One of the worst I've ever had in fact. I had intense congestion, and so much pain in my forehead, cheeks and teeth. It felt like a vice was squeezing my entire head, I was in a lot of pain. I tried sinus medications, cold medications, nothing helped. I was in so much misery and I'll be honest, I'm stubborn so I didn't go to the doctor. For some reason the Neti Pot idea popped into my head and I was desperate so I drove to CVS one morning to pick one up. I came across the NeilMed Nasaflo which was the only Neti Pot there, so I purchased it and crossed my fingers.
I came back home and was a bit apprehensive to use this thing. Was I going to choke on the water? Was I going to feel like I was drowning? At this point I didn't care, I just wanted relief. I prepared the solution with the distilled water (had to warm it a bit in the microwave since it was cold), and followed the instructions in the manual. I was instantly surprised. This is so easy! The solution poured out of my nostril with ease and I didn't feel any discomfort, it felt soothing and natural. All sorts of gross stuff came out of my nose when I blew it out as per the instructions. I could breathe!Read more ›

The concept of this is great and works super well. I DEFINITELY prefer the other version though, with the squeeze bottle. The pot is not super well made and didn't hold up to well. Read morePublished 19 days ago by Mary
