Update: I've lowered my rating because the display started to go out the second year of ownership. Now I can't read the time to set the device. In hindsight, that display runs 24/7, which may be the problem. Nelson should consider implementing some sort of stand-by mode to extend the life of the display.
1) You must provide your own batteries (no biggie); 2) Maximum pressure is 60 psi; 3) not for use on outlet end of 'Y' connections or other hose accessories.
I am violating both #2 (60 psi is pretty low) and #3. So far so good, but folks should be informed of these "restrictions".
The only reason I'm giving this 4 stars is because you cannot select multiple start times. In others words you set one start time (ex. 9am) and you can only program the unit to activate based on preset intervals relative to the start time you selected (you are limited to 12hr, 24hr, 1 day, 2 day, etc intervals). In other words, I cannot have my unit start at 6am and 8pm daily. In the above example, it would start at 9am then 9pm, if I had selected the 12hr interval. All in all a good product.
I sent Nelson a message through their support department and never heard a thing back from them. Hence, the unfavorable review. Products do fail, but when a company ignores its customers and defaults on its warranty contract, the public needs to know before they make their decisions. There are honest companies in this same business.
I previously had a different brand of timer who were HORRIBLE. When the batteries ran down in those timers, the thing automatically opened.... meaning the water turned on until I realized it was on and ran out to turn it off. This happened to me twice, both times in the middle of the night. So I woke up to find that my backyard had turned into a pound. And my water bill was outrageous both times.
The Nelson timers, automatically CLOSE when the battery runs out. So no flooded yards and high water bills.
Installed easily. This is programmable without the instructions which is always a great feature with the frequency that the instructions are lost. It set up in mere minutes. The timer is easy to read as is the dial. It is turning on and off as expected. The bypass feature is also nice. This is a nice upgrade from my previous Nelson timer which btw is still in use after four years.
