The Tuba Harness conforms to the shape of your body and evenly disperses the weight of the instrument while absorbing the shock of your movements. The neoprene pad forms a comfortable and stable yoke across the top of the back and shoulders. The cushion stays just where you need it most—no matter the amount of moving and grooving you make while playing. The self-adjusting harness freely glides through the hardware located in the back which increases your mobility without sacrificing comfort. The Neotech Tuba Harness is designed comfortably fit both men and women.
The unique attachment system offers two connection options to fit most types of tubas. One system offers a “cradle” for the lower section of the instrument made of a unique wrap support. It is covered in a non-marring material to protect against abrasion to the tuba’s finish. This option is ideal for tubas that do not have an attachment eyelet located on the lower section of the tuba. The second option offers loop connectors that can be attached directly to the eyelet located on the lower section of some tubas. These loops then attach to the snap hooks on the main body of the Neotech Tuba Harness. The harness also offers an upper support strap for added stability. This strap can be connected to either the right or left side of the harness depending on the player’s preference. Experience the innovation of Neotech’s Tuba Harness. It’s ready to carry the load!
The Tuba Harness is available in three sizes:
- Junior: 18"–22" (45,7cm–55,9cm) - Ideal for younger players and for adults playing the Baritone or Euphonium!
- Regular: 22"–27" (55,9cm–68,6cm)
- X-Long: 26"–33" (66cm–83,8cm)

Now for the bad... the sizing is poorly thought out. I'm 6'1" and the "regular" straps are far too long. My mouthpiece misses my face by about 3" with the straps shortened to the max. I would need to tilt my head like a chicken or pull the horn up with my left arm to play with good posture.
I just ordered the JUNIOR size and I'll be sending the regular back. Don't just take it from me (see other reviews here and on TubeNet that account the same issue). Order a size SMALLER than logic would dictate, especially if your horn doesn't have built-in attachment points (the extra strap accessories will add length).
I hope this review helps. It's really a fine product with a few sizing quirks.
I have an old '70's Miraphone 186 and it has both bottom and top attachments. I get an excellent angle and position on the mouthpiece. Took some adjusting to get it right but now is great. Watch video before trying to attach. It is quite easy if u understand how it is supposed to work.
Highly recommend. I play Dixieland in the street corners with band standing up. Couldn't play without it.
The other caveat is that for most professional tubas (I have a MIraphone 186), the attachment that is intended to wrap around the bottom bow is too small, so most users will probably not be able to use it. This is somewhat annoying and I wish tha Neotech would change it so that it can be used with the large professional tubas such as the Miraphone. But this is not really a serious problem, since the provided straps can be used to attach to the tuba's bottom ring and the harness is quite strong enough to support the weight of most instruments out there.
Aside from these two issues, the harness works well. it is soft and does not bother me even when I am standing for long periods of times. The straps are also wide enough hat they do not cause me any discomfort. And as I mentioned above, it is more than adequate for even the largest tubas as far as strength. OVerall, this is a good product and one I would recommend for players who want to have some support for their tubas.
If you need to perform with a full tuba while standing or marching, this is the harness to get. While you might need to be creative with the mounting, I was able to get this fully situated with the pieces provided.
It's a little tricky to figure out how to hook it up, and doesn't come with a good set of directions. Personally I have used it on my school's horn, which is a Meinl Weston BBb 25 model and what I found best is to take the strap with the soft fabric around it, and loop that around the bottom most bend and hook it on to the harness and take the small loop with the clip and loop it around one of the top tubes and then just ajust everything so it fits right. It's taken a while to get everything where I like, but now I have no problem with standing and playing when I need to. A great purchase for anyone doing a lot of standing performances!
